G'Day Folks, A very informative site you have here ! I pick up my New Black/Red Speedmaster on the 17th May and have a Long Trip to get it home ,1800k's after I run up enough K's over the weekend to get it's First Service done before I leave. I'll have to carry Fuel as 2 of the legs are 290k's and from what I've read here it's a bit further than what these bikes will do between Tanks. Has anyone had any problems with tyres / Rims ,apart from bad luck with punctures etc that I need to be aware of ? Cheers Bruce

Have one tip for you: Let the dealer do the AI removal if possible before you get it, will prevent your headers from bluening on your long trip home... And Welcome to the site!

I have long advocated taking your new Triumph home the long way about, but that is a bit extreme! If you are careful with the throttle and get it into top hear as quickly as possible, you should be able to make 210 KM before you go to reserve, but that is still calling it a little too close. The original tyres are good for well over 16000 KM in normal use, so you shouldn't have any problems there and the rims are sturdy enough as long as you don't try any serious jumping or such. Be warned though, even with that long ride home, you might not want to get off the bike and will have to eat from the takeaway windows for a few days.

Nah Ed, 1800km is only 10.8 miles, those metric numbers will fool ya!!! OH wait, I didn't put my decimal in the right place!! Holy Batcrap!! Yeah, that should meet the requirements for a proper "breakin" ride....

I'll ask the Dealer about the AI removal Gooseman and see if he'll knock a Baffle out of the exhaust at the same time.. I'm looking forward to the trip ,I had to edit the first post as it's actually 290k's between 2 of the towns on the way not 190 .I'm just hopeing the Seat is as comfortable as it looks!

Bruce, I've done a few 1000k days in the stock seat, and it was fine. Yes, I'd squirm from side to side and front to back from time to time, and change leg position on the front pegs once in a while, but otherwise was not a problem. Good luck and G'day!

Try putting your feet back on the passenger pegs. Anytime I get out of traffic and hit the long road, that is where mine will be. I go back to the front when I hit the towns again and have to start shifting or dealing with traffic. You can always go back to the front pegs for a position change, too, and putting your heels up on the fronts is a nice change from simply having the flat of your foot on them. Lets you swing your toes out a bit and stretch. As for the seat - I am plenty satisfied with mine. When my feet are forward, that is where I ride on the seat. Right up behind the tank. The seat seems to have a "sweet spot" there I never found the first 12k miles. When my feet are on the rear pegs though, I scoot back a bit in the seat. Whatever works for you. You are gonna love it!

This, Ladies and Gentleman, is yet further proof that this Triumph thing is MUCH more addictive than even cigarettes!!!
I mean, ever heard the old Ad-line...."I'd walk a mile for a Camel"???
Well, DrBruce here is going over a THOUSAND FREAKIN' MILES to pick up his new Speedmaster, for chrissake!!!
You tell ME if this here "Triumph Addiction" ain't something the Surgeon General might want to look into TOO!!!
(I don't wanna quit, and don't think I'll ever wanna EITHER...Triumphs that is!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
