Cycle world had a little article regarding the new cruisers. were they refering to cruisers or a cruiser and the street triple? everyone has been refering to a new cruiser and the naked sport bike but they called them cruisers. made it sound like 1 would be a rehash of an existing bike and tge other is all new then said 12 to 18 months. mike

yeah, just read that last night and thought the same thing...2 new cruisers? here's the quote from Triumph VP of Marketing: "We have two new cruisers coming out in the next 12 to 18 months. Our line right now has an 865cc engine and a 2300. I think you can figure out where the new one will be." He further added that one platform will be all-new, the other one a derivation of an existing model. The magazine is speculating that the 2 could be a big twin and a triple (big also, I'm presuming).

The street tripple will be cool, but still not a radically different bike than the 675. Gimme something T-bird esque, then I'll start participating in the MANY rhumor mill threads

so the triple would be considered a cruiser? if so that would figure cause after that I thought of 2 bikes with forward controls.

to me the only Triumph is the air cooled vertical twin.
Actually I would like a kick starter , points , and pushrods too.

Amen Bro. If Triumph ever got rid of the P-Twin don't know what I would do! Well yes I do, I would't buy another one. To me that the thing that drew me to Triumph, the most beautiful engine on two wheels, the P-Twin.

I'll throw in right hand shift. Too many inadvertant down-shifts and braking with this US nonsense. You can keep the points though. Wonder if Boyer makes a CDI replacement?

I never liked the boyer set up , can't be fixed along the road. I will agree with the right hand shift though. Even though it doesn't mess me up since I regularly switched back and forth between my old Triumph and my BMW.

Here is how I see the plan. Triumph promised two new models each year. For 2008, there will be the naked 675 (mini Speed Triple) and the Rocket XC (cross country). For 2009 there will be the 1500 Cruiser (the new Speedmaster) and a 675 dual purpose Tiger (Tiger Cub).

I think the left side shift is a world standard now (except Indian Enfields). I prefer it anyway, even though I was used to the right side back in the day.
Triumph has been known for parallel twins and triples for some time. The old air-cooled triples had some heat problems with the center cylinder, at least in the summer heat here. So liquid cooling is the obvious solution. I would definitely consider a liquid cooled twin if it helped to make a larger displacement cruiser a reality. That's one of the challenges of larger displacement air cooled parallel twins; getting the inner sides of the cylinders to cool. But maybe they've beat it. Time will tell.
