After a couple of hours of haggling I finally agreed to let the salesman win and signed a deal which I still feel comfortable with. The mob who look after the triumph exhausts for them agreed to make me up a shotgun muffler with a removable baffle. The question is will the bike run alright for a weekend away with the new pipes fitted but not having been put to the dyno, AI removed Etc and will I damage anything?Unfortunately the week-end has been booked and delivery of the new two tone speedmaster will be the day before.

You will just blue your header pipes. They'll never look the same. I'd get that AI off for sure. The rest of the stuff isn't as critical, it may not run as well as it could, but you won't hurt anything.

What he said. You will be fine. Just yank the AI as soon as you can to keep the pipes from bluing.
Congrats on the bike!!
What pipes are you getting?

if you can get the pieces, taking the ai out is relatively simple. it wouldn't take you long to do that before the long ride.
what color scheme did you go with?
06 Speedmaster. Black and Sunset Red.
SS long slash, 135/45, AI out.

Thanks for the feed back ! The color is two tone, black with sunset red scallops and gold pin stripes thats actually the coloring of my 73 when it came out. The exhausts will be an imitation 2" shotgun or what I used to call a turbo that were common on Harleys, nice and plain but lets everone know your're coming. This AI stuff which is all new to me (dont even know what it stands for ) can I find any information on how to remove it.

Very easy. It stands for Air Injection. There is a vacume operated part under the gas tank 2 bolts to remove that , 1 vacume line to remove and plug , a hose from the air box to remove and block , and the 2 pieces next to the spark plugs to thread out and plug.

Air Injection Removal Instructions These instructions are from a Brit site, but Brent should sell a removal kit as well (two bolts).

Brent does sell a kit. 2 plugs and copper washers a squirrel condom and a block off blank for the air box.

I am lost on that one, Poodle, Pup ?????
Do we have fictional members? Every PHP board I ever set up the administration would ban forever anybody setting up fictional members. I must be reading this wrong, as usual.
Never mind, I don't need to know, it would just hurt may head. This place is getting strange.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

Yes It's pretty much a MUST to remove the AI. It is a small vacume operated pump uner the tank the runs to those tibes next to the spark plugs. It causes your header pipes to blue quickly and badly. It takes air from the air box and injects it into the engine. There is a vacume line at the left carb (if memory serves if not then it's the right one) that has to be removed and capped there is a hose to the air box also needs to be removed and blocked and the 2 lines next to the sparkplugs need to be threaded out and plugged. then under the gas tank the little vacume pump comes off with 2 bolts. It's an easy job.
