Ok all, after sitting on all your nice plush seats at Georgia, I decided I'd call Corbin and ask what gives with my brick. They said a few people (and my butt) have complained of them being like a leather covered brick. They said to send it back and they will "plush" it up for me so it feels like a Sealy mattress. O'boy, so I'm putting the stocker back on (glad I kept it now) and shipping it back to California for a free repadding. They said it's their busy season now and will be 4-6 weeks. At least they were nice enough to warn me about that part. They initailly said to wait until winter so I won't be without, but I said I still have another seat so no biggie. Anyway, I'll report back later with the results. By the way, the lady on the phone said my seat was one of the Florida made ones and thats is where ALL the complaints are from. Hmm, thus sending it to the Ca. plant instead.

Hmm, guess they're a bunch of hard-asses down there in FLA! That's pretty decent of Corbin, but I guess you bought that decency. My SaddleGel pad in the OEM seat seems to have been worth the effort, have to tackle the wife's touring pillion next.

Good to hear. If I ever get it re-worked, I would ask them to make it a little wider with less leg cutout. I have no problem reaching the ground... so my butt could use all the support it can get! Anyone else feel like that? Otherwise. I'm gonna give it a few hundred miles before I really make any definite opinion about it.

After reading all the pros and cons regarding Corbins, I am still undecided. I think for that kind of money, it darn well better be comfortable - and I shouldn't have to wait for a couple thousand miles to break it in. Mabe I will be better off if I continue to invest in Prep. H ?? Call me crazy, but I think a "cruiser" should come stock with a comfortable seat.
BTW - I agree, there are a lot of "hard a***s" in Florida, but don't forget, most of them came from somewhere else!

Palmer, I have put Corbins on pretty much every street bike I have ever owned, and for this exact reason. They are the Rolls Royce of seats, hands down the best seats I have ever sat my boney arse on, no bout adoubt it. I even had several seats with their original "Corbin-Gentry" tags on them. Gentry was a dork for selling his shares, I would have been glad to buy them. Once you go Corbin, you'll never go back and wonder what took you so long to even go there. Ask anyone that has ever owned one, you will get the same response. In unison, there are now several nodding heads going "oh yeah, that's right, abso-freakin-lutely". There is no equal. Just my opinion, you are entitled to yours, no matter how wrong it is.

Combine butt variation overlain with seat variation, we're going to soon need a software program to sort out the possibilities??!! I bought a corbin saddle last year, received it in May. It was extremely comfortable straight from the box and couldn't detect the breakin period Corbin mentioned. I have somewhere around 7K miles on it now and haven't had any tailbone 'issues'. Maybe I'm brain dead or simply butt dead? The stock saddle wasn't kind to me.

Good point freedom. this is the first one I have had to get adjusted. In fact, it is also the first one they didn't get measurements of my butt and my weight and riding style before making. That's what I chalk the defeciencies up to, too many seats to make, not enough time to do it like they used to. But (or should that be "butt"?) if you go to them (too far now) they will do the arse measurements and such like previous seats I purchased. And by the way, figuring the cost of living, inflation and such, the price has stayed pretty much constant. last seat was $650 years ago. And the guy that owns that bike now is still enjoying that same seat that still looks and feels like new. You get what you pay for is true in this case.

If you ride 300+ miles a day, you need a firm seat that supports your back. Believe me, after my first 500 mile day on a marshmellow seat, I couldn't get out of the bed at the Motel-6!! From then on, it's been nothing but Corbin's on my bikes. The only break-in I've ever noticed was "from comfortable, to more comfortable".

Mine is comfortable too. But the issue with the mounting bracket and the front of the seat eating into the paint on the tank leads me to believe that satisfying the Triumph market isn't high on their priority list. Will I keep it? Yes. But for the price I expected a little more attention to detail.

Hey Pat, I am in the same boat, even with the extra "padding" that I have!
Only trouble I have is that I got them to ship the saddle to Moe in FL & he forwarded onto me.(I guess that would make my saddle a FL made one as well) Suppose I could try to do it via their agents here to try to cut down on the postage costs.
Let us know how it goes.

Mike, I do agree with the firmer seat thing, but there is such a thing as too firm, trust me, I know. The other guys seats, Phil and wojo especially, have softer seats, but still enough firmness to work. My stock SM seat is like jello, way too soft and that bugs me much quicker than the Corbin does now. We'll see.

I just got a Corbin and I notice that my butt starts going numb after about half an hour. It's just too hard. With my stock seat I could ride at least a couple hours or more, and never did my butt go numb. It's a little disappointing. I think I'll make the call and see if they will do a refit for me too.

I'm with Pat! The Corbin seat is the best upgrade I've made to my BA. I used to have a lot of pressure on my tailbone and couldn't ride more than 50 miles without needing a break. With the Corbin I can ride for hours. Mine came from CA and it's been comfy from day 1.

I think I may ride it for a few more months then make a call as to if I want to get it re-formed... Of course I don't have a seat bracket for my stocker anymore so I might just have to wait till winter:)

I think the problem with my Corbin seat is that I sit just a bit lower now, and my knees are a little higher and more bent, which puts more pressure right on the point of my tail bone. I think us riders with longer legs have more of a problem with the lower, harder seat. I've got about 800 miles on my seat. I'll finish the break in period and go from there.
Otherwise, I like the seat. Great quality, and it looks very sharp on my bike.

Hey John how tall are ya? I pushed my foot control bar forward with washers, happy to tell you how I did it if you want, gave me an extra inch-ish of foot room...

Ok here's the short version.... Notice the double bar that holds the foot pegs to the frame. It's held on by 4 bolts. I forget the thread on them, but u can take one off and go to the hardware store and get 4 more of the same thread but about a half inch, maybe 3/4 of an inch longer. Also get a few packets of stainless washers that will fit around them. Then you loosen all 4 bolts, remove them one at a time and stack a few washers in between the frame and the bars. I think I have 11 on the top ones, 9 on the bottom ones.
Now here's the tricky part... I was worried that would shift my rear brake cylinder too close to the header, so I made an aluminum adapter plate to shift the master cylinder back. I'll try to take some good pics of it... Only used a hack saw, my drill, and cleaned it up with the dremel, no machine shop required.... I'll try to do a proper write up on the whole mod sometime... Doesn't pick up thaaaat much leg room, but it's a little!!

I'm chiming in a little late but "I love my Corbin"!!
I waited two years before getting it and finally bit the bullet over the price. I "broke it in" on the way down to Georgia and the only thing that didn't hurt after a long day of riding was my butt. To me the Corbin feels like it's cupping my arse perfectly and I can't imagine a more comfortable seat. After having it on I realized the price is well worth it, don't tell Corbin but I'd pay more now. Why did I wait?

I stayed with the stock seat, but had it reworked and covered with leather by Rich's Custom Upolstery in Seattle. They have you onsite while the work is done so it can be fitted to the rider. Cost is about the same as the Corbin, but fits like a dream. I've done over 600 miles in a day more than once and could walk afterward. Seats make all the difference in the world when you're putting on the miles.
