I got up at about 0430 as usual, and it was raining, like a cow pee'en on a flat rock. Folks, I am tellen you this was a real frog drowner. As I was heading to the Jeep instead of my bike, all I could think of was that young Gina, over there in England, would be riding, no matter what. Old cowboys would be riden no matter what. You old wimp. Well, I am old and comin down with a cold, but still a wimp. Dave

Riding in the rain is just no fun, not like riding on a pleasant dry day.
From now until December or so, my truck will sit still unless: A) It's raining/snowing, or B) I have something to carry that won't fit in the saddlebags.
I love riding, especially now that gas is close to $3.00 per gallon.

Nope you are not a wimp. Those of us in the Northwet probably shouldnt ride when it is raining, because it seems that theh cagers forget how to drive when it is raining so it creates a much more dangerous situation for us.
Not to mention, we love riding our bikes and want to enjoy the ride, not a whole lot enjoyable about riding through a swimming pool.

not a whimp at all. I got picked on for trailering to Pat's last year a little, but whatever. If it's puring and cold, it's no fun for me anymore. talk nothing of the extra danger... To each his own, and enjoy!

Now that I don't have to, I hardly ever ride in the rain. I just don't find it fun anymore to be cold and soaked through to the bones.

I WILL ride if caught out in it, rather than take shelter, but won't intentionally head out into rain if I have a choice. Took my first commute in yesterday on a sunny day, and dealing with the HORDE of cars on I-84 for the last 3 miles was enough for me, I don't even want to think about tackling them in the rain! Wimp away dude!!

I sold my car last weekend and now my bike is my main form of transportation. I'll be riding to work rain or shine.
Yes, I have the family car if it is really bad and I have no other choice, but for now I don't have any immediate plans to buy another car. Just need one before next winter!

There's days when the better part of valor is to keep the steed stabled and ride upon the altar of four wheels.
No wimnpin about it. On the other hand if all youse has is two wheels ya gots to tuff it out.
I member years ago when all I had was two wheels for awhile. I needed to get to work so rain or shine that was it.

We're having a mini heatwave at the moment, and it sure feels good with the sun on your back and chewing on the odd fly as you blast down those country lanes. If this is Global Warming I say bring it on

I've got a car for the wife to drive, but a bike is my only way to work. Starting next month, Florida has two kinds of weather, rainin' and gonna rain. It's not so bad with a good rainsuit. Now a 40 degree rainy day would probably kick my asss, but the warmer stuff isn't too bad.

Hey this made me chuckle after a really $hit day at work.... But there's one mistake. Not matter how much rain, you won't find me riding at anything before 8am. And that's on a good day. I'm normally still fast asleep then.

Exactly. In W.A. we have about 50 days a year when you not going to at least sneek out for a couple of hours. Bike seasson all year baby The rain scares the crap outta the car drivers, they have no skills in the wet, their dead set scary at times...some combination of too close, too fast, too sloow or too far away. I guess it comes down to practice and the fact that we dont have compulsory wet weather driving tests like in Europe. I think its Sweeden where you have to pass a day snow and night driving test before they let you go.
...yes, that is a single seat...no, I will not put the other seat on...yes, I am selfish...yes, you should buy your own bike

Ya know, it was cold this morning, and after I got to work, even though it's gonna be 69 this afternoon, I'm GLAD I wimped out!!! Was doing the last 6 miles of my commute, merging onto I-84 from Rt. 7, when some F#Q@Q@$! idiot in a pickup comes barreling up behind me in a pickup, swerves around the line of traffic waiting their turn to merge onto 84, and SQUEEZES between me and the guard rail dividing our lane with the other road merging onto 7 (who the F#$& puts TWO separate roads onto ONE onramp?!!!), swerves in and out of traffic and comes to a stop in line in front of me about 6 cars ahead. Had I not seen him coming and edged over about a foot as much as I could, he would have creamed my car, and God forbid I took the bike this morning, and he had creamed me, well.... This is the 2nd such incident in less than a week, and almost the same circumstances (and both on I-84), and I am seriously considering parking my bike except for evening and weekend rides up where I live. The first part of the commute is always nice, relaxed, even with some traffic, but it seems like as soon as people merge onto I-84, they turn into freaks and animals!!!! Unfortunately, there is NO practical alternative to this last couple miles on I-84, so I'm kind of screwed, but I value my life (and my bike) too much!!! Don't think I'm going to be racking up nearly the mileage I used to, but at least I'll be alive to rack up those fewer miles!!! Freaking idiot drivers!!!!

Bayern, I certainly can see why you drive Pard. That place don't sound good at all. I am very lucky here, although the traiffic is getting worse, it nothing compared to your area. I only have 12 miles to the studio and have riden in the rain several times, but the jerks you are dealing with is something else. In the evening sometimes traffice gets backed up going into Wenatchee, normally within 15 or 20 minutes you are out of it.
BTW Skull, welcome to this forum. Back in the days, I was shooting off Viet Nam waters with the HMAS Perth. Great buch of gutsey guys.
