Anyone ever tried to install these "power cones" on one of our bikes?

If you go for it let us know what you think, please!! Looks and sounds like an easy way to a little more torque from everthing I've read.I know a number of the after market exhaust companies are pushing them.(for Harleys anyhow).

On many bikes they are useless because the header pipe have a similar shape at the beginning.
If you change the header pipes with larger, you obtain better mid-high range and torque cones can correct a bit in low side.

So, if I'm understanding you, these won't help me unless I up the header diameter to 2" or so? With the stock header it is not going to help, huh?

I think no, stock headers are small (and pipes long) for low-end torque.
And before buy this device every rider has to dismount his bike's headers to see if in the beginning of the pipe the shape is already similar.

Where did you find these....do you have a link for the cones? We were considering these for my bike.......I have an '06 America. I am putting fishtails...straight pipes on. But no baffles or anything are in them and there is no backpressure..............kinda............bbbbbbbllllllleeeeeehhhhhhh. Bummer.......they look HOT and are gonna be loud, but I need pressure/power. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks, ~*~ Painted Lady

Donna, Thats funny. I'm looking for some back pressure for the same thing- my new fishtails! These are everywhere on ebay for about $20. I linked up the picture from KhromeWerks, I think.

Thanks Ian, I've got 3 or 4 sets of baffles hanging around, but they just don't sound right. Too tinney, The ones I'm lookin at look like thier made out of a heavier guage steel for a deeper sound. I aint trying to throw money away, just lookin for the right sound. Since I didn't want to drill a bunch of holes in my pretty pipes, I'm using a couple of pieces of straight 1 3/4 straight exhaust pipe I have laying around cut to the same length as the fishies. Trying to see the difference in sound and performance in baffle placement. Also using different packing to wee what that does. All done I'm still less than $130 in pipes.

The "tinny" sound comes from the 1960's technology baffles you are using. To soften the sound, you need to deaden the shape of the sound. You need something that is wrapped with a sound deadening material, like fiberglass, or is acoustically chambered. You can experiment with the ones you already have by wrapping some exhaust fiberglass loosely)around the baffle, then aluminum heat tape around that, and lacing it all in with some stainless wire. Should take the edge off your e-note.

That is the solution to the tinny sound and might want to talk to Soren he is trying to do the same thing.
