Just thought I would share my favorite website: www.fark.com (not news, news site). Pretty cool site. Anybody else have a favorite? (besides this site of course )

For the moderators sake...keep it clean.

That site SHOULD be required reading for all the fkn boneheads who forward email without checking it!!!See if little Jonny really wants postcards for his 10th birthday...when he's really in a Bonita Springs retirement home now!

I should have an automated reply to any of my family members that says, "Did you check this on snopes.com?" They send me every asinine thing they get. I've been trying to "train" them for years.

I spend a lot of time here.
NEOW.org
and some time here, lots of really cool stuff
http://www.pirate4x4.com/

Take a look at how people beat on each other at pirate and then you will relieze how innocuous,it is here. We don't swear at and constantly berate each other.

I do one better - I look it up on snopes myself and then send the link back to them and everyone they sent it to. I still get the crap.

Dill that reminds me of the KJ site I was telling you about, well one of them anyway. Their equivalent to the "which oil" question was "where can I mount a mag-lite". Well everyone would answer "penut butter". I still don't know why, nobody would even take the time to explain where THAT came from. It was like you had to be in the know... So they want everyone to go out and buy a KJ cause they are the best, but sorry you have to learn by osmosis? Or be psychic? WTF? Not very welcoming...

Some of the tech on Pirate is hands down amazing. Most of those guys are wizards with a mig.
But ask what some would think of as a noob question and you get flamed into tomorrow. Really most of the builders are in the semi pro tier and way above my pitiful efforts.
There is this builder in Pakistan who turns old military willys into YJs and JKs with a bunch of guys just hammering on sheet metal no real tools etc.
But take a look at the general chit chat, that is main reason I posted it up. It really puts this place in perspective. I think the difference is this is an older audience here. And 98% of us aren't drunk posting.

Thats messed up. When I am asked something no matter how simple I think it is I try my best to give an understandable answer. I mean understandable so you could make an attempt even if you didn't know anything about what I am trying to explain. Not sure how successful I am but at least I try!

Yeah it's nuts. I think a lot of those guys probably get inflated heads because of their abilities and then they get that internet set of stones on and say whatever. Around here, if someone posts a dumb question, if nothing else I at least say "You can find that in the vault". Not only will it get them to look, but it might remind a few others

That's the way my in-laws are. And I've referenced snopes.com on hundreds of replies - to no avail.
I've shown them how to clean up a "forwarded" email so it is at least legible and intelligable. I get messages and junk from them that has been forwarded so many times, I can't read it. It's like every bit-o-junk they get, they hit the forward button automatically. Been going on for years.

Not to take this further off topic, buuuuuuuuuuut...

My dad has a habit of forwarding e-mail with pictures but, and I don't have the foggiest idea how he manages to do this, the images aren't attached to the e-mail, they're linked to images stored in the temp directory on his hard drive. So I get e-mails full of nothing but broken image links.

The only time I enjoy header remnants is when someone who doesn't work where I do, sends me an email, and when you trace it back it comes from an address of a hospital employee who was screwing off at work. I like to send it on to them so they can see how many people know they were screwing off.
