 Preparing for dyno run

I'm going to take my TBA in for a dyno run nest Wedsnday, first time I've ever been to a dyno. What do you all do to prepare for a dyno session and what do you take with you? The dyno is at a Harley shop, so I was going to take my Haynes in case we needed to look anything up, and maybe some shims/jets. Any other advice?

Have not been near a dyno in a long time but would assume all he needs is your specs as in gear ratio and tire sizes.
His stuff measures the rest.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

all you need is the bike unless you know the guy or schedule more than 1 session. they put the bike up there run it up to temp then do 3 "runs". Basicly nail the throttle 3 times and record the data, done. Then it's unto you to interpret the data and make what ever adjustments you deem warrented then bring it back to test it again and repeat the process until you are happy.

This is what I do: Set your tire pressures(cold in the am). Change the oil.(Amsoil or something synthetic) Make sure your air filters are fresh. Check your spark plugs (Gaps,etc.) Fresh Gasoline If you have a Battery Tender..hook it up the nite before so you know your battery is hot. I'd make 2 runs on it & see what the Dyno sheets look like & then go home and make my changes-then go back again.When you get it about right the Air/Fuel ratio should be one click to the rich side as the bike has no ram air effect on the dyno(fresh air). These things done should give you a decent baseline.

If it's possible - balance your carbs before the run. Also make sure your vacuum caps are crack free. Other than that - what Kenny said. Good Luck!

I'll go through everything tomoroww and fill up with good gas(one station here has 110 octane), the off to the dyno Wednsday. I'll be posting the results and looking to all the experts here for tuning recommendations soon after.

Where's Bill? 110 octane? Are you running 12.5:1 compression?

No, 10.5:1. I don't usually run it, but I was thinking it might be good on the dyno. I've heard of people burning up their motors and want any extra insurance I can get. My next best option is 91, maybe 93 if I can find some.

10.5:1 you should be OK with 93, 91 maybe I ran 10.5:1 in my old TR6C and the mid grade wasn't enough. 110 would be over kill. Also 110 wouldn't prevent your motor being fried. If the dyno guy knows what he is doing there should be 2 big ducted fans blowing on the motor to cool it.
