I installed the tach in my 03 TBA. It lights up but the needle doesn't move. Is the red wire the one that indicates rpm's? I had sme trouble getting it seated in the ignitor. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks, Dennis

If that was a stock one there should be a harness that plugs in under the dash. Shouldn't have to go under the tank at all.

Had to remove the tank. The original harness had two connectors.

Thats wierd I didn't have to when I installed Wendys tach that I remember. Hers is an 04 that might make a difference but I wouldn't think so.Only tach I've done so aside from that I don't know.

Yeah, they changed the setup for 04. The 03 has to remove the tank and change the harness.

Dennis,
Send a PM to "bennybmn" he can walk you through it. I believe he had to do the same thing to his speedie.

Bonneville America, thank you very much! Yeah, before 04, the red wire didn't come standard. Which worked out for me, because someone (stevesixmil I think) got the tach kit for a later bike, and had the extra red wire laying around, made my install very simple!! Dennis I replied to your PM. Sounds to me like either that red wire isn't pushed in far enough, is in the wrong hole, or isn't in the harness correctly up under the dash.

So far I have talked to a couple people not too far from me on here. 1 guy about 1/2 hr north in PA andother from NY who gets down my way. We should get together for a ride and maybe some burgers and stuff on the grill after.
There is a really good open pit BBQ not far from me by lake Wallenpaupack.

Not far from Port Jervis. That's about as far as I've gone in that direction on a day ride. Maybe some weekend I can zip up to CT on a friday, then jam out saturday morning. Not that bad of a ride down 84.

It's probably.... 2 to 3 hours from here depending on traffic... That's why starting in CT would be better

I have an '03, and it was all setup to plug-in under the dash. Must just be special.
