A while back I was thinking about getting a heavier touring bike. I was thinking about an older Goldwing if I could find one in decent shape. Anyway, I found this site. I think the '87 was the last of the good ones. After that, they just looked like a rolling plastic factory. Check it out. History of the GoldwingBTW, look at the big ugly radiator on the 79. Notice any parallels, or see any possibilities? Cody

Cody,
I think I mentioned before, but a friend went to South Dakota on an older Yamaha 650 7-8 years ago. Outside of Rapid City the engine siezed, or did something equally baa~aad. He got to a motorcycle dealer, where an 80's model Goldwing sat in the backroom (for sale). He traded on the spot and has been riding the wheels off it since.

My favorite Goldwing has always been the 1984 Standard. It's the last year you could get the stripped down bike. Think of it as a 4-cylinder Valkyrie.

My preference was always the '75 to '80 1000 and 1100 – pre-plastic models. Naked, fast, smooth. A real motorcycle – Not a motor coach.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I know Dwight, I know. And they don't haul much either (compared to a 30' Winnebago). Anyway, it's out of the question now, 'cause I just joined the ranks of poor college students.
