Call Triumph in GA (peter) and followed up with a letter. I still have not recivied a recall letter for my 2003 Speedmaster Brake reservoir what is wrong with Triumph of Americia is it me or what? I love the bike hate the service and dealing with Triumph When you call its like talking to a moron so 3 years later I am still waiting for both recalls including the starter cable I guess the lawers will deal with it when the brakes fail or Starter goes on fire so sad Make : TRIUMPH; Model : SPEEDMASTER;

Never heard of the Starter recall.

The brake res thingie. I did that myself. Took 2 minutes. The guys in the dealership said we can get to it in an hour or two or you can take it home and do it yourself. Pop into your local dealer. They should have the part on the shelf, or get one pretty quick for you. The only time you would need the brake job done is if the bike falls over. Otherwise it is no importance.

And thinking about it. I dont think i ever got a letter about the brake recall. Just happend to be in the shop and the mechanic noticed i had not had it done.

I often wonder if customer service is becoming extinct as rapidly as common sense.

A little OT, but still with regard to service issues -- As much as I would prefer to buy American, my wife chose a Honda automobile. At 28K, the crank postion sensor started throwing a code, and so we got it to the dealer before the warranty expired. A few days after the repair, I got a call from Honda corporate wanting to know how the service went.

Apparently Honda corporate keeps tabs on what the dealers are doing. I've never had a QC call like that from any US auto or truck maker with a fleet wide experience of perhaps 200 plus warranty claims.

And we wonder why the US auto industry is in shambles. In my limited opinion, the majority of auto buyers are shopping for a quality experience, which may explain why the Camry is the #1 selling auto in the US. It isn't likely the Camry's looks that's getting them out the door.

I think that is the diffence between Cars and Bikes.

I have had a number of follow up calls from my local Ford Dealership. Ive had a few Fords from them. And my local Jag dealer keeps up with me on my XJ8 and i brought that used. They even sent my car a birthday card

I co-signed a loan for my sis-in-law, everytime she gets an oil change, Chevy calls me to make sure the service was ok. Our dealerships have people designated to do only follow-up letters and calls.

Not that I had a problem with the brakes or the starter cable and I was informed of the troubles reported on here first. Its the idea of the whole thing of never hearing from Triumph! My build - vin sticker around the fork neck fell off years ago I asked them for a new one never heard back on that too and the moron Peter from Triumph said maybe you sent it to the old address last time I check with the US postal they forward mail to the new address and the letters where never returned.

I tore into the Saturn dealer when they screwed up with my then new car. They don't send me any more surveys or call me. I guess that's one way to keep your QCP rating up: ignore the crabby old guy you messed up with.

NHTSA = National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

They're the govmnt organization that tracks such things as recall, statistics, research, and the like.

National Highway Transportation & Safety Administration.

There was a recall for the starter relay cable to the starter motor being too close to an oil line (I believe). If they recalled it, there must have been incidences of it shorting out after buring the insulation. We looked at Ryan's 03 a couple of years ago on the way up to GA and his was VERY close.

To All,
I must admit when I had MY 04 America I learned of the brake recall HERE on THIS FORUM, NOT from Triumph! I will say one thing though, I have seen links on the Triumph web page, e.g. the Sixty8 accessories, which were and I think are still privately owned as for accent pieces for Triumph motorcycles?. If I am wrong please let me know.

That being said, why can't we approach Triumph about having OUR site linked to the international forum? Maybe they will tell to pack sand but, we gave it a try. From this link it would lead to many other links associated with our site here.

Any ideas?

I also went and checked mine. It told me no recalls!! I have an 04 I would think it should still inform me of the that I know of. Res. has been fixed but didn't know about the starter recall and it effects both my bike and Wendys bike. They should do as any other auto makers do and send a notice!!

I recieved the brake recall notice from Triumph, but never had it done on my 03. Everytime I'm at the dealer they remind me, it's been what 4 years. Yes I've dropped my 03 America and had spongy brakes on the way home, bled them and it was fine.

I'm not trying to offend anyone, but Triumph doesn't own our bikes, we do and we are responsible for them. It's my fault the brake recall work wasn't done on my bike, if your's hasn't been done, who's fault is that?

Drive your bike to any Triumph dealership and they will do the recall work with or without a recall doc. No charge, no questions asked.

I never had mine done either because I wouldn't install that ugly bracket they showed me. My dealer had me sign a form showing I refused recall service. I signed it and told them it would be no problem bleeding the brakes if I did drop her.............

how worn are the pads? Maybe a little air in there too. Either one could do it.

So true the Bikes are ours and for us to take care! But lets say you not a member here and never had to go back to the dealer how would you know about the recall Triumph reported back to NHTSA that 164 people could not be contacted. With that said thier was a lot of talk on here the new bracket does look like crap thats why I have not had my done notice or not if you keep the reservoir full at all times (even as brakes wear) you will not have a problem. The cable I slipped a wire loom cover over it to protect it from the oil cooler line.

I did get the notice on the resevoir recall. At the time there was no dealer in SLC so I called Atlanta. I could have had the parts sent but haven't. bleeding the brakes is not that hard to do if I drop it.

The reason why the automotive industry is so much better is because of competition. the motorcycle dealer doesn't have nearly the competition and knows that they are the only one that can fix Triumphs. they don't need to market to you or go out of their way to service you because they have a monopoly. I feel like they resent you are a "do it yourselfer" because they want you to bring it to them. Its also funny how the discourage you from modifying your bike unless its a factory item.

I guess I just have a great Triumph dealer. I learned of Septre exhaust on this forum in feb of 03, bought some, installed and showed my dealer, they've been selling them ever since. Same with Revco products. I showed them how to take the AI out.

When I rebuilt my 76 T140V, the owner was bringing me parts at home after work. He help me drop the engine back in.

The truth is that any Triumph dealer will do the recall service if it hasn't been done. I imagine they'll give you the parts for free if you want to do it yourself, Triumph is paying for uit not the dealer.

Still screwing around but this is the last recall for Speedmasters and Bonnevilles....I started with model year 2006 and kept backing it down one year at a time until I got a "hit"

It tells me it can't install and wants me to install a yahoo tool bar. I am very tight with security on this machine but thanx anyway. I can just copy link location and paste into IE.

I did the search myself on that page and the 04 (not sure if it applies to any other years) Speedmaster there may be a bad weld on the rear suspension unit. I imagine they mean swing arm since they say dealer will remove and replace the part.I did the search for Americxa and apparently the starter cable and weld issues don't apply to the 04 America since it didn't come up.But might wanna check for yourselves anyway.

I drive an 06 VW Jetta and everytime I visit the dealership I get a call (even got one when I bought it).

So far nothing to complain about.. they drop me off at work and pick me up at the end of the day (or when my car is ready). Just gone in for oil changes and my airbag light once.

I like getting the call.

just my 2 cents
