Welcome to the Sanitarium, we all know why you're here. Have you adjusted your bars yet? They look pretty flat in the photo. Drop 'em a bit and it's more comfortable. At least for me. What's the bike's name?

The running in is going well. I havent been to harsh on it though it is sooo tempting when you open the throttle and it just takes off in any gear. I had a choice when buying it from my local dealer, get the mulberry now as they have a few or wait 4 months for the black. I searched all the dealers till I found the black and bought it straight away. I had already been on test rides and stuff and new what I wanted.
Modifications ? Yep for sure but after my first service by the dealer. Feel free to throw in suggestions. I know pipes are a must but still working out what I like best. I want deep and loud but not over the top. Just want people to know that when I open the throttle up, watch out for Speedy.

don't do pipes without air box drilling/removal and air injection removal and be SURE to rejet.

didn't mean you have to just helps the engine breathe.

you can do pipes without airbox mods. thats how i ran mine for awhile and pipes alone made a very big difference

It's very easy to do simple airbox changes like removing the snorkle and putting in a UNI filter besides removing the AI system. My carbs were definitely re-jeted, but I haven't felt the need to go further.

If I do anything else, it will be a 904 big bore kit. I'm waiting until my bike is two years old to decide.

Congratulations on the new bike!!!!

The only suggestion I have is to remove the air injection as soon as possible to keep your header pipes from blueing.

Yup, I've not seen a real need to butcher the air box. Just pull out the snorkel (that rubber "shield" on top of the airbox) when you get new pipes and matching jets. Oh, and yes, lose the AI. It makes the bike run hot and the exhaust ugly. I heard Staintune exhaust is good: stainless steel and comes from your island http://www.staintune.com.au/exhausts/triumph/Triumph%20Bonneville%20America.htm here is a good link to a tool for easy guessing http://www.dinqua.com/Triumph/Executables/PatsJettingCalculator.exe

Good job Derek. Snap. What a cool ride. Warning - stay away from the Tech and mods sections on this wonderful site. But if you dare there is a wealth of good stuff here.

Ramsound,
just interested why you would go for the 904 big bore kit instead of the 988 kit..

Simplier, less additional work, solid, proven, and reliable. The larger kit changes the stroke with the same bore. It requires more engine work and labor. The biggest gain I'm interested in is the torque gain. The hp may go up slightly, but there's a big torque inprovement.

Also, I am not planning to make other major changes like different carbs, cams, etc. and I wanted to keep the airbox. Because I would be paying my dealer to do it, I feel it would be the most bang for the buck to get more of what I wanted. My dealer has done a bunch of them.
