I buy my oil at a local Honda shop and the other day I stopped in and amoung all those shiny new Honda's, Kaw's and Yamaha's I see a rather sharp looking 2006 Yamaha V-Star Classic.
While I was waiting for the parts guy to get to me I go over and take a hard look at it the thing is covered in dust and like a puppy in the window it was looking for a home. As my general feeling towards these bikes are they have no souls this particular bike has been playing on my mind the last couple of days.
So Lynn and Brett take the car and I ride the 250 Honda Showdow over to Willows in Cheshire. No kidding I past 6 bikes on my way there and not on waved at me thank god we do not have picture of me on that thing.
Lynn, feel in love with the bike and we now have a brand new 2006 Yamaha 650 V-Star Classic sitting next to Big Poppy. The bike is loaded full windshield, bags, floorboards with a toe and heel shifter and a ton of chrome.
On the way home I got to say I was impressed with its response and she steps right up to crusing speed, so it looks like Lynn will be keeping up with everyone this year.
I would not let her buy a Harley and she could not find a Triumph that fit her right, so I guess a the Yamaha is acceptable to me.

Wendy is 5'2 and I made the America fit her. She loves it. Lowered 2" ,floorboards so she doesn't have to reach the pegs, moved the break pedal back and moved the shifter back.

That's a VERY competent bike there John. Congrats on the new purchase. Lynn is gonna love stepin' up to a 650.
(and say hello to Brett for me)

Dog,
I tried to convince her, but Lynn is to pratical to argue with.
This is how the converstaion would start.
Lynn, honey I could get the guy's to help me lower that.
John, we are going to buy a brand new bike for $8,000 so you and your buddies can take it apart and spend who nows what on parts so I might be happy with it. I do not think so.
I could never win that arguement.

the yammie stars are good bikes I know 2 guys that ride um, and a real good bang for the buck when you consider all the etra hardware they come with stock.

I bet Lynn will be thrilled with her new Baby! Congrats to her!!!! Perfect step up from a 250 for a newer rider, nice low seat height, very well balanced, not too heavy. Women love this bike to ride- great choice....The Classic comes beautifully loaded, she can strip off some of the googaas, or have bags and the windshield on, and you know how we women like our choices. I envy her her floorboards, which as you say come stock. Well done, you get Man of the Day Award! Has Lynn come in from the garage?

If Triumph didn't exist, I would have gone for one of those Yammerhammers.

John, That's a great bike for Lynn. She's gonna love that bike. Plenty of power and comfort. Plus thos V-stars are bullet proof bikes and low maintenance.

John, She's gonna love that bike. One of my friend's wife has one with Vance & Hines Cruzer pipes and it sounds fabulous. Nice docile deep tone and they really CRACK when she opens it up. I wish V&H made pipes for us. The VStar really is solid and Lynn is gonna know she's a real biker now.
Ride Safe,

My wife went from a 250 rebel to a 650 vstar classic, she loves it. the extra size and weight makes her feel more comfortable than she did on the smaller honda... my son rode it to wyoming with with me and my brother last year and it ran well... great bike for the buck

Guy's,
Thanks for the feed back, did not know much about this bike and your comments have made me feel like we made the right choice.
Dwight, Brett wants to know when your coming back out here, he keeps asking me to call you so you can go riding with us.
Thanks again.
P.S. I got my XM radio for Big Poppy out of the deal, she was so happy yesterday she would have agreed to anything.
