Has anyone installed the Kuryakn grips on a Speedmaster or America?

How are they to install, and how do you like their looks and function?

They are awesome. If you do any distance riding, be sure to add the throttle boss!

i'm considering going with the ISO grips as well with those stilleto end caps. There's a guy who has the same set up somewhere in here and pictures of his bike is posted in the PhotoPost.

make sure to go with p/n 6236

Kevin,

You will never reget put these on, just make sure they line up with one another do the throttle side first. The glue the give you setups up real quick so keep moving the grip around until you get it where you wnat them. The look is awesome and grip is 100% better than stock. I use to get a cramp in my left hand with the stock ones and so far I have not had this problem since I switched over.

Took me about ten minutes for the entire job, Brents instructions are right on.

Tip I learned from Rob use an air compressor to take the old ones off, just stick the end of the air gun againt the grip and give it a blast while you pull at the same time. I have a perfect set of original grips if I ever need them

I just put on a set, than moved them to a new set of bars. Don't use the glue they supply. Hair spray is much easier to work with and makes no mess.
Here's a shot of the left grip with my new bars. That is a Kuryakyn helmet lock on the end. Definitely go with the Throttle boss.
The grips are way thicker than the OEM grips and give you a bit longer reach to the levers. If you have small hands, that might be a concern.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm sold.
Looks great Al!
One of the first things I did to the bike was put Brent's football grips on. I really butchered it and it made me cautious about trying these.

Fatter in the middle than on the ends. Whereas the Kurys are cylindrical.

I have similar, but different/fatter.

The hairspray thing is an old dirt bike trick I learned from a neighbor of mine. To take off the grips, use a thin bladed screwdriver to lift the grip. Squirt some hairspray in the gap. Twist the grip and off it comes. Use the hairspray again when fitting the new grips. When wet it acts as a lubricant but it dries like glue. Couldn't be easier...

Hairspray- Old BMX dirt bike trick... we would wrap the bars with 2 sided masking tape and spray on the hair spray. Aqua net seems to hold the best/ longest.

I installed them recently. Don't get the universal part number. Put the throttle on first so you can better line up the clutch side to match. I didn't need to loosen the throttle cables at the carbs only at the grip. The glue is wickedly fast so be careful if you use it (I did). They are very comfortable.

Hairspray huh? Have to try that after I figure out how to get mine off....

I used the supplied glue, followed the destructions to the T, and half the left grip still turns.

They arrived from Brent today and they're already on the bike. They look and feel GREAT! And that Throttle Boss is very addictive. Strongly recommended.
Thanks everyone.

Just put mine on today. Do the throttle side first. When putting on the left side, put a piece of masking tape on directional housing and your new grip on a dry run. This way you can line up the left grip with the right. Then cut the piece of tape leaving a piece on the housing and your new grip. Put the glue on the handlebar and then slide the grip on lining up the tape edges. Works perfect, then both left and right side are matched.

Just used a wrap or two of double sided tape and a bit of lighter fluid... just like regripping golf clubs! <G>
Oh yeah... the left Kury grip on my Harley turns too...but no biggie...it's been on there about 20,000 miles...just too lazy to bother fixing it... rather work on the SM..<G>
