Greetings everyone.
New guy to the forum, but old guy to riding. I've been lurking for a bit and wanted to first thank you all for the tips I've picked up so far.
My '02 America was delivered to me yesterday (bought from a friend in Arizona, I'm in Virginia) and she's fantastic. My first Triumph, but I can already tell I'm hooked for life.
As a forum newbie, I have a question and am not completely sure where to post it. The bike has been an Arizona native the last four years and is now in Virginia. Thoughts about what to do to "climatize" it are greatly appreciated as I would expect I'll have to do something. Ran great yesterday but...
Thank you in advance.

Hi nick, can't help you on the question I live on the other side of the world but welcome and nice choice of bike. How about showing us a photo when you get a chance. Most of us appreciate what other's are riding.

Congratulations on the bike!!

I don't think you will need to do anything to climatize it.

There is a jetting calculator available on Dinquas site.lets you put in what kind of air filtration you have , AI removed or not , type of exhaust you are running , and here is the big one for your question..the altitude you live and ride at. Once all that is entered it will tell you how your bike should be jetted or very close if not spot on. Keep in mind any change to any of the things I mentioned and you should rejet. That is where I would start.

Got the red one and I'll post a pic tomorrow. Although with our current forecast, it'll have snow on it!

With 24 hours in a day, what's the problem? Uh huh.
How about two hours halfway sometime?

Welcome to the forum Nick. How many miles does your bike have? And where exactly in Arizona did the bike make it's home? We can range in elevation from near sea level like in Yuma to over 7,000 ft like in Flagstaff. Makes a big difference when it comes to jetting.

I live in Arizona and ride a 2003 Speedmaster. The only thing I would be concerned about are the rubber items on the bike, specifically the area around the carbs. If the bike was left outside at all, the dry desert heat can do a job on the rubber. So check the vacuum caps, the intake rubbers from the carb to the manifold, etc for any cracks from drying out.

Any idea when or if the battery was replaced? Might want to get a new one if it's never been changed.

The catb rubbers are a very good idea. Don't want a leak there!

All very good points. Being an Arizonan for 34 years myself, I know what you mean. The bike was in Phoenix the whole time owned by a good friend. I've checked all the rubber, the 1st thing I did as I thought the same way; everything is in great shape. Battery is three months old.

Before I forget, she's got 4001 miles. I can account for all but the 1st year of her life; afterwards it was owned by a friend.
Dog, sounds like a plan. I've only been in Virginia three years and haven't played "tourist" yet.

4,000 miles is nothing. Its barely broken in. I have almost 11,000 on mine and some guys in here have said 50,000 on thiers.By the way do you work for vidot? my Xs step dad did down around Mineral.Your ID kinda makes me think it's a play on that.

Sounds like it's in tip top shape and cared for by the previous owner. Looks like there's a 700 ft difference in elevation. Might not even be enough to be concerned about the jetting. Enjoy your new ride.

Thanks Sal. I thought there was more of a difference but haven't checked. I was thinking it would be more a humidity and temperature variation; I've had issues with my older jeep for those reasons. Keep in mind I'm an electronics guy, not the mechanical type.

Nick, I'm in Centreville and always looking for a riding partner. Let me know whenever you want to meet up. I've got Specialty Spare exhaust and have done a lot of tinkering w/ my carb's, etc. so might be able to help you given the elevation.
