switch2mac, another + to buying a Triumph is getting to read Dwight's writings and ramblings. They alone, are worth the price of a bike.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

COOL Ian!!! Let me grab my HELMET and I'll meet cha up in Anchorage for that beer I owe ya!!!
Hey! Wait a cotton-pickin' minute!
I thought you said..."makes me wanna break out TO AK"(as in Alaska)...NOT "break out THE AK(as in 47)!!!
Well, in THAT CASE, just forget it then, Dude! I'll just go enjoy "Seward's Folly" all by my lonesome!!!
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Looks like you are here in Nashville, TN? Have you been to the Castle yet to check out the rides? My story goes back to 2000 when I was ready to get back into riding - Triumph won out with a Speed Triple and I added a Speedmaster last summer. If your still considering Triumph let me know and I will be glad to help out locally in any way possible.
2001 TT600 Turbo - 162.47 mph - APS-BG 650 AMA Record
2006 Speedmaster - 111.101 mph on the Salt Flats
2000 Speed Triple - 63k memorable miles.

Yes, as a matter of fact I went there yesterday (Saturday) to check out the bikes. They have the EXACT Speedy that I want to purchase, Phantom Black. I appreciate the offer of assistance. Where abouts do you live? I am in Franklin off of 96 West.

Nippers Corner area off of Old Hickory Blvd. and Edmondson Pike. Looks like Tuesday will be a riding day for me. We could meet in the evening somewhere that fits your schedule? or later in the week if that works better.

Ok time to pitch my two pennies in the pile... I went to the local HD dealer to get the bike inspected last week the old guy walks out to the BA and says" A Triumph! you pass! " he checked the lights & horn & told me to pay inside. I gave the bike a nice trashing on the way out to show her up a little, I definately turned heads.
"Got the wind in my face the road goes on for miles...."

Wanna know why to buy a Triumph over a Harley Ferguson......
Because you like to ride, not pose.
Ride a motorcycle....not a bandwagon.
Ride a Motorcycle.....not a Bandwagon.

Most people swear by BMW for long distance comfort...most likely, you would to. For me, after 50 miles on the RT, I knew I made a mistake. Even with a Corbin seat, I was miserable. Tried the stock seat...worse. I kept it for a few months before selling. I really thought I was going to have to go back to a sportbike. I took a trip from Eastern Iowa to Denver with my brother. Rode his Sprint ST to Denver. Pretty comfortable, but realized my shoulders and wrists couldn't take a sportier riding position. Rode his Harley Heritage back to Iowa and loved it...the cruiser riding position works best for me.
