OK so here's my situation.... My tires really don't have many miles on them, but are a couple years old now. The front one was replaced when I replaced my dented rim, (new/used one came with a tire) but I kept it. So I actually have two front tires... and a rear. All avons.
I'm hoping to get my 16" rim rollin this summer with a 200 on it. The only Avon in that size looks nothing like the Venoms I have. Is that a big deal? Or the other option would be to get a Metzeler... I'd rather not spend the bucks on two tires if I don't have to.

I hope it isn't a big deal, I run a ME880 rear and Pirelli Sport Demon on the front.

Good to know!! I mean at this point, even if I wear out the front, I could just put my other avon on the front!!!

Presently I am running a Dunlop K-70 , 4.00 x 18 vintage tire on the front and it sticks as good as the Metzler that I had on there and I am putting on the Pirelli MT66 ,180/70-15 tomorrow. I don't think I have ever had a matching pair. Even the stock set didn't macth visually anyway.
Have a nice day , "unless you've made other plans"

I'am running the ME880 Marathon on the back and a Bridgestone BT45 on the front. When I needed the front I didn't have the bucks for the Metzler on the front,so I ran the BT45.It actually sticks very well.I don't know if it will last 21,000 miles like the original Metzler did.I've got 7,000 miles on the Bt45 and it looks ok so far.

I'm using a Michelin E50 on the front with a Metzeler ME880 on the rear, no problems. Mix n match isn't a big problem on a bike the way it is with a car. I'm told there's a few tyres that won't work well together, so double check with your tyre fitter first.

Well I'm not getting exotic here, just thinking in terms of available sizes for good tires. Running all Avons now, but there is an ME880 in the size I need, so I'll probably go with that.
