Learn to appreciate life's absurdities. You'll find yourself laughing a whole hell of a lot more.

Ok Kennedy I was in Steubenville pissed that they canceled cartoons
Landed on the moon I was pu mped because I got to stay up late and watch it in Steubenville
Beetles in Steubenville and at the time I didnt care
Cobain living in Stow watching the news saying what a idiot
And Dwight I was riding so you can take me off the Avatar list (some times Dwight reminds me of Jacques Clouseau) my little yellow friend

All I can recall on the list is sitting on my aunt's lap in Dorchester watching the news, watching the famous Walk on The Moon, hearing "These Boots are Made for Walkin'"....

1. The rip roarin' metropolis of Baldwin Park CA.

2. That was on a Sunday, so I was probably at home.

3. Never heard of them

4. Ditto

5. Mine seems to be there.

Now, for some extra credit...

I was living in Bloomington CA when The King (of swing of course!) retired.
I was sitting in a bar in Calabasas CA drinking my ex goodby at lunch when they showed the news about the first shuttle that blew up. I found it very upsetting that I was suddenly alone and NASA was taking perfectly good, intelligent, scientifically minded women and blowing them up.

Kennedy was shot in Dallas? Was he really ? Today..... ? Wow, that's weird............ same date Ragen was shot in Washington DC.

....They landed a man on the moon? Ragen and Kennedy... ? Landed on the moon ? Wow, I thought it was that Neil Sadaka guy, and that other dude they said was Buzzed...

Dude, I gotta go spark up.......... this is just to much for me to take in I don't know how I missed Kennedy being shot, being I was born in 61, just don't recolect much from that time frame.

The lunar landing in 69 I remember well. At my Aunt Anna , and Uncle Sal's house. Orangeberg NY. Had been BB-Qing, swiming, and shooting fireworks and my Uncles miniture cannon. Gathering an hour or so before the landing......... I was the very tan kid to the right of the TV making fart noises with my hand in my armpit

....The Beatles disbanded? Pearl River NY, eating dinner, oldest sister fairly pissed over it.

(oh, and for you yutes around here)
...when Kurt Cobain did himself in?
Don't honestly remember what year it happened, but I doubt I would remember being fairly stoned most of the time back then

Hell, I didn't know Ragen and Kennedy went to the moon, and I don't even somke the stuff any more.............

oh...and let me ask YOU somethin' Chris. This Steubenville place that you speak of...is it as exciting as it sounds over the Internet, or do they sometimes have to call in the cops to keep all the ruckus down?

The King of Swing? I love Benny, but I actually prefer Artie Shaw.

I know exactly where I was standing when the Challenger blew up.

I know exactly where I was sitting when Leon Durham muffed that grounder in '84.

I know exactly where I was sitting when Steve Bartman ruined everything.

I know right where I'll be sitting the first weekend in May. Chy's pole barn...

Oh Dwight(Alice) Steubenville happens to be the heart of the rust belt countless ships cars tin cans have been made from steel made from her. The greats like Dean Martin Jimmy the Greek and Tracy Lords (bless her pretty) all came from the town. plus and this is very important, there is never a need to stuff a bike in the back of a pickup to leave the state or is that another thread?

1. My parents were in 1st grade.
2. They thought they watched on TV? Was it real Dog?
3. I was born (barely) when Lennon was shot (call it the extreme disbanding)
4. I don't know but quite frankly I glad he did, I still don't know what the hell he was singing about. Bring back GNR,Poison, Ratt, Crue etc. I don't want to hear how much your life sucks. I want to hear about rocking out.

Where were you when that Simpson bloke was being chased by a million police cars down the interstane in LA LA Land.

Now i remember that very well, though i cannot think if it was 94 or 98, but either way. It was at the same time as the opening game for the World Cup was kicking off and they interupted the entire match to show this circus. Man was i pissedddd. A) who the hell was this Simpson bloke anyway, and B) this is the friggen World Cup for crying out loud. Man...I Was PISSEDDDD.

Ironically - In Jr.Hi. history class.

....They landed a man on the moon?
At home. Had just graduated from H.S. and working my first real job and making money for school

....The Beatles disbanded?
Stoned, I'm sure. I just heard about it a week or so ago

(oh, and for you yutes around here)
...when Kurt Cobain did himself in?
Don't know and not sure it matters

And NOW....
...when "The Great Avatar Theft" took place around here?

Can't answer on the grounds it may incriminate me.

1: I was eating lunch at home (one block from school) in Moab Utah. When class (4th grade) resumed after lunch, the teacher (Mrs. Bench) was crying. School was canceled for the day.

2: Sitting in front of the TV at home in Las Vegas.

3: Spring of '70? Probably at Clark High School staring at Veronica B's legs.

....Kennedy was shot in Dallas? (Had just walked home for lunch in grade school, I got numb. I was finally in Daley (sp) Plaza 3 years ago with my sister's family and and was surprised how small it is, it appeared much bigger on the tv)

....They landed a man on the moon? (I got up and watched with my little brother, who is the real spaceman of the family)

....The Beatles disbanded? (It was time, I would have lost my cookies over a Beatles disco album. I was more into Johnny Cash lyrics)

(oh, and for you yutes around here)
...when Kurt Cobain did himself in? (that one didn't surprise me much)

And NOW....
...when "The Great Avatar Theft" took place around here? (Putting up chairs and wiping tabletops in the lounge after losing a stupid bet with Grump and Dinqua)

1. Crawling around in diapers.
2. Glued to the TV. I remember Aldrin said as he hopped around the moon that he felt like Bugs Bunny, my hero.
3. Out playing, it was off my radar.
4. Giving my son my sympathy, KC was his hero. (go figure)
5. I have a perfectly good alibi for that one.

Here's one more.
Where were you on 9/11?
I was listening to Howard Stern at work and thought it was just one of Howard's dumba$$ routines at first.

the first 3 - I wasn't born.

Kurt..... he was too mainstream for me at the time and didn't find out he'd gone till a couple of days later. I still think that the only reason Nirvana are cult is because of him killing himself. I really thought their "music" was crap. And I was in 6th form at the time. It's just my opinion before anyone gets back to me...

9/11... I was at work. Well not at work, I was waiting for a mate to finish so we could go shopping. I waited in the mess room and thought the pics on the tv were a hoax... then realised it was the BBC and they don't do things like that at that time of day. I sat there in silence after for around an hour.

Jonh Lennon... I really don't remember, but probably at school.

9-11: At home, watched it all on tv. Heard sirens and whistles and turned on the scanner. They were closing down our airport and shutting down route 219. At that time they were ordering flight 93 to land at Johnstown. Within short order I was called into work, all Security had to be on hand. Right after I got to work Dr. Karduck called the DEM saying there were no survivors at the flight 93 crash site and the hospital could stand down.
It was oddly quiet that day.

We left there in '67. I was through there about five years ago too. While it has changed, a lot is still the same, Off the beaten track to the house we lived in and the park, both still there (just smaller than I remember ).
Driving down toward Monticello to visit my sister in Dolores all I could think about was how much I'd like to ride that road .

When Kennedy was shot.
I was in my parents living room. (this is according my mother because I was 3 years old)

When Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon. I was in Windham, NH (parents living room again) watching it on my parents 25 inch RCA. I was celebrating my 9th birthday with my brother Rick. July 20, 1969. My mother made a cake in the shape of the Lunar command module. She also gave Rick and I Apollo 11 drinking glasses."One small step for man, one giant leap for man kind". I'll never forget that day.

When Beatles disbanded:
I can remember exactly where I was when I heard the news but I remember my sister Anne crying like a baby because she loved John Lennon. I remember going home and playing Yellow Submarine over and over to drive her crazy. She went to my parents and they made me stop torturing her.

1 and 2. I was sitting in a holding chamber waiting to be born. I remember the weird bright thing came into the room and told us, someone killed a leader and we need to send someone to replace him. They grabbed the kid next to me.

3.I don't know where i was. I think I was a toddler. So in my Mom's arms.

4. I remember I was snowboarding all day and I went to work at the snowboard shop and my boss told me.

5. Sitting at home and they did some upgrades. Eversince then, no avatars....is it a conspiracy?

JFK assassinated – 7th grade in LA, SoCal. I started getting ‘weepy’ when the news was played over the intercom in class. A kid a couple rows over called me a cry baby, so I walked over and hit him in the face before he could stand up. I broke out his two front teeth and cracked his jaw. It was a sucker punch, but the punk needed it. He had his jaw wired for several weeks. I wasn't even sent home or suspended, because maybe the teacher thought the punk needed it, too.

RFK assassinated (bonus) – 11th grade in LA, SoCal. I walked into the house from a date the night it happened, and my dad was watching the news. It didn’t sink in until the next day on the way to school past LAX when I noticed most of the cars had their lights on in mourning.

MLK assassinated (bonus) – No specific recollection.

First man on moon – Ft Rucker, AL in AIT (‘Army Tech School’) learning to repair helicopters. I watched the grainy B&W pictures in the Day Room with a bunch of other guys and listened to Walter Cronkite narrate.

The Beatles broke up – I was in Vietnam doing my bit in stemming the ‘yellow tide’ from reaching our shores by being a target in the door of a helicopter. I don’t have any specific recollection of the event, because I was probably stoned and – like the Beatles themselves - those memory cells aren’t around anymore.

Well born in '76 so not much I can add about most of the questions but 9/11-

I had just taken the bar exam and had orders to report to Justice school to start active duty in the Navy at the begining of January. I was working as a legal clerk and had spent the morning fighting with Lexis-nexis because the internet was really super-slow that morning (go-figure). One of the partners came in and said "Haynes, you picked a hell of a time to join the military". He told me what happened. I stepped into the breakroom in time to watch the second tower come down live on TV. I immediately walked back in and tried to get my detailer to get me active duty orders 3 months early (they wouldn't). Wierd day. I also got a speeding ticket on the way to work that morning...

I wasnt born for the first three....

Kobain: In class at Haskell Indian Nations University--my girlfriend (now ex-wife) told me when she picked me up after class; I was a little shocked, I really liked his music (love the Beatles too though).

9/11: Asleep, but heard about it when I got to work; freaked out all day, then stayed glued to the tv for the next year it seemed. Bad stuff...

Oh yeah, what's this avatar stuff everyone's talking about?

Beatles - Don't remember, but I was pretty shook up when John Bonham died in '79.

JFK - just a baby.

9/11: Off that day, washing my car, had the FM garage receiver tuned to 98Rock out of Baltimore. Kirk, Mark and Lopes (RIP) were describing the events. After about 30 minutes of listening on the radio, decided I better check it out on the television. We're 30 minutes from Camp David and Fort Detrick, so we were all scanning the skies for a few hours.
