Has anyone tried to mount a digital camera or a video camera to their bikes? I'd like to record a special ride I'm going to take next summer and would love to hear some ideas.

Dang, www.ram-mount.com has a lot of stuff. I'm leaning towards the duct tape end of the $ scale. :-)

Looks like the basic mount is about $32.

grump hit on the most important part - a rigid mount WILL destroy your camera. Find a way to mount it to your chest or your helmet. On your chest will give far less noise by the way.

Take a small compact digital camera, keep it in your right pocket.. when you want to take a pic just get it up with your right hand and shoot You have to hold it upsidedown to reach the shutter release button Safe NO... but it works.....;) Johann (and no i don´t recomend it if you are not used to see your life throu a viewfinder each day...)

My husband, Habuba, used the top of our tri-pod and attached it to a universal clamp that is used to mount pegs. The video was wonderful. No vibration, and with the wind-vest wind screen, no wind noise. Just the sound of the bike. The only problem may be sun reflecting off of the chrome/windscreen. I will try to put a clip of one of our rides on my myspace page. Here is a pic of the mount. AmyLee

John- this is a very complicated market...your best bet would be to immediately send me an air ticket for the planned start of the journey.!!
Let me know what camera/video you have- as my wife often says to me- its all to do with size
I have to pop out now- but will post my specifications and research the best way foward for you. ( just completed a video of a new bike I purchased for MrsRodYork )- see other post Country Run(Video)

Check out this hands-free video camera. It looks like it would be ideal for use on our bikes. Not so sure about its resolution. Sharper Image Hands-Free Video Camera Tom

That seems to be a nice camera. I wish they had a sample video of it on their site to see what the video quality and shakiness of it would be mounted on a bike.
