I plan on heading up for lunch thu or fri. I know most of you will be working, but if anyone wants to do an afternoon ride around the north-west hills let me know. The ice is finally off the drive way, and the state roads look good. Temps are supposed to be in the 50s, and sunny.

I regret not being able to hook up with you today, or Fri. Just wasn't in the cards. Maybe, in the near future, we'll meet up for breakfast, before getting Martin's bike out of the cellar.

Gotta work today, or I'd be there. Mark, can you take 04/15 off & join us to New London? Don't you feel a well-day coming on? "Can't make it to work today, feeling too good."
My parts came in Wednesday, so I hope to finish the cellar projects this weekend, 03/31 & 04/01. I gotta get this lil baby up to the light of day, sooner than later - hopefully the weekend of 04/06 we'll do the hoist, if the weather holds.

Martin,
Pictures, pictures. And not just the last set in reverse order either. The "descent" helped get me through the winter doldrums. I say use that backhoe and dig a proper ramp this time

Next week. I'm gaining ground today. Wasted the morning unscrewing an evil brother's act of listing real estate for sale - one problem - he doesn't have every owner's consent to list. The agent posted signs to sell the acreage anyway. Nice.
My blood pressure this am = Alaska Pipeline
Guess you can't trust blood when it comes to money. Anyway...
I'm hunkered down in the big dog's den, finishing up my bar swap campaign. D'joo know you can swap out throttle cables without loosening the carbs? Ha ha Mr. Haynes! I'm taking a sammich break, then on to finishing things up - soon I hope.
Any troops want to yank dis ting out da cellar next week?
BBQ is on me.

I guess we'll just have to take pics. Your dad's 60? Heck, I'm gonna be 50 in less than 2 weeks.

Yeah - I figured out I need to re-wire the handle bars. The new bars are too long for the old wires. Might as well pass the wires through the bars while I'm at it. I'm 3/4 of the way done now.
I may hang in there and git R done tonight. I don't know. If I start tweaking out from getting tired, that's when the hammers and tomahawks start flying.
Just hit a snag - the start button is two wires - both black with red trace. Hope it doesn't matter which goes where when I solder them together. It shouldn't. (I hope)
No come along here.

Just ran out of heat shrink, with 14 wires to go. Must mean it's beddy bye time.
Looks like next week for the resurrection. Next Sunday is Easter - better shoot for Saturday. The bike looks good with the wires gone.

Yup and my mom's 55 if that makes you feel even better still
I have a comalong by the way, but dude's got a backhoe! You should be all set.
All bikes look better without wires! I am continually amazed how much heat shrink I go thru on a project. I start out getting one or two little packets from lowes... goes FAST. I recently got a couple different sizes in rolls from harbor freight.

If Benny was your kid, you'd a never made it to 50, old timer. It definitely cleans up the look by burying the wires. I had to lengthen the wires for the new bar anyway, so... Thanks to the miracle of transportation known as 'a trailer,' ALL my bar based gee gaws are gone now too. I went in a little downstream of the grips. I didn't go ultra slick and burrow in under the grips. Good enough for an old Hillbilly. Just got back from the parts store, with a new parcel of heat shrink. I'm going to bolt up a Drag Specialties tach today. I need to go scavenge a 3 wire socket and plug off my computer junkyard to make the new tach wires detachable under the console. With any luck, I'll be done today, depending upon the F.F.F. - the fiddle f' factor. I'm prone to distraction via "hey there's that whatyacallit I lost 11 years ago." Middle age ADD I suppose. Too bad it couldn't be A D H D. I could the H part.

Something about the bars to consider, which I plan on doing, is treating the now bare metal that the holes created!

I agree - silver paint from a water color brush maybe.
Did myself a favor Sunday, and bought a real live heat gun for the heat shrink. (Steppin' firmly into the 1900s we is)
Dayum - does that ever beat flickin' the Bic.
It should come in handy for warming up the chain a little, prior to applying lube.

LJ,
Let me know what time you want to pull the beast from the dungon and I will be there. Sat. or Sunday makes no difference to me.
One of my customers mentioned the "S" word for Sunday Noreaster coming up the coast Sat. into Sun. will have to watch the weather tonight when I get home.
Real Estate agent wants to have an open house on Sunday. I think she is nuts, but she claims alot of people go looking on Easter Sunday. So we are free the whole Sovie family at your house.

Scott Haney was talking sunny all weekend, but he looks like he has other things on his mind besides the weather.
Saturday is perhaps my only window this week. I likely have an agenda planned for Sunday.

LJ,
Scott Haney, he has to be on something no one I repeat no one can be that happy all the time without using the pipe.
Do you notice he is always twiching his hips and smiling at the same time, I think he puts gerbiles in pants.
I watch him every morning as I know sooner or later they will be taking him out in a straight jacket.

I should probably warn y'all -
SATURDAY PARTLY SUNNY WITH A CHANCE OF SNOW SHOWERS. A CHANCE OF RAIN SHOWERS IN THE AFTERNOON. COLD WITH HIGHS IN THE UPPER 30S. CHANCE OF PRECIPITATION 40 PERCENT.
Obviously that's a very early (Tue) forecast. I'm going to go ahead anyway, rain or shine. It doesn't take very long to get it done, maybe 15 or 20 minutes tops.

It's an LQ=JQ thang Lunch Quality = Job Quality Might be a little chilly for BBQ here. We might better go roust Greg & Anne out of their comfort zone. Maybe if it's not too busy, we can twist Greg's arm for a barn tour.

` See? I'm not the only one this crazy It gets better - in this photo, they're using a SS brake line as a sling. At least I use a proper strap. Good to know fact #17 - If we had used the front wheel to pick from, which was one of my early notions, (and I'm sure the cast wheels and triple tree are plenty strong enough) it may have tipped the bike back too far to clear the cellar door. Good to know.

Several disturbing things here.... One: the strap like you said. They could come up with a forklift, but not a strap? Yikes.
2, the front wheel. A couple things about that... A: only one way to find out if the forks can handle it, and that's the hard way. and 2: it tilts the bike WAY back beyond vertical, and extends the forks all the way out, so you are not only torquing the trees, but pulling the forks, which are designed to be pushed on. Yikes. So unless you plan on removing the STAIRS from your bulkhead to get a pure vertical approach, I'd stick with the behindtheframebytheheadstock approach!

If I was 30 years younger, (along with an appropriate moon shine to blood ratio in me,) we'd be filming a hole shot launch up a warped out two buh four, and out the Bilco doors.

I'd make sure the camera was at a good angle to catch the expression on your face as you realize you face won't clear the top of the door whilst on the bike

I hate it when that happens Reminds me of a time long ago when I jumped on someone's dirt bike at a school yard, and took of h3ll bent for leather. I was from out of town, and didn't see on the mowed grass covered athletic field that there was a 2 foot high berm way ahead, and hit it full tilt. My 2 legs and all the rest of me went to full vertical above the bike, quite by accident, and upon landing, I wish I might have had diapers on. Only through the grace of God I hung on. A pretty young spectator said, "Wow, where did you learn to ride like that - that was an an AWESOME flying W." I had no clue what a flying W was. I was just glad to have all major bones still integral. Through the miracles of male ego, I managed to eke something out like, "Oh, yeah, I do that all the time."

Update: We got Martin's bike out of the the cellar w/the backhoe unscathed. There was a good turn-out for the event. Big Poppy, his son Brett(sport'n his new leather jacket), CTMike, CTSpeed, and a couple of special guests(whose names escape me, at the moment), all chipped in to help. Then Martin treated us all to lunch at Toymakers Cafe. A good time was had by all!
Martin promissed me he'd post pics after he took a nap. Still waiting?
Three weeks to go till GA, can't wait, what happened to spring around here?
