Is anyone running the Sceptres with 1.5inch baffle? I am considering going with this setup, mainly for the cost savings over the Thunderpipes.

I have Sceptre exhaust. No baffles though. Maybe you could go without the baffles first, then add them later if you want to tone it down a bit.
I like it loud.

I have the Sceptre pipes with 2" baffles and they are AWESOME!! A friend of mine has an '04 Speedmaster and he runs the 1.5" baffles and there is a subtle difference between the two....my 2" baffles are 'slightly' louder than his, but not by much. I've got 8600 miles on my pipes and I have no complaints about them....no discoloration etc etc..
'02 TBA,904,Scepter,K&N,and a little bling too!

I bought my Septres in spring of 03 for my 03 America. At the time, I just ordered a set of Septres, I didn't know they even had baffles or different sizes. Mine have a very sweet idle, are not too loud, but louder than the custom pipes on my brothers' Road Kings in normal riding. Reving the engine will set off car alarm systems.
Mine will get a very slight gold hue during long trips ( something only I notice ), but I usually cruise at about 85 or 90 on highways. Simichrome and a little elbow grease cures that.
My Septres are the stock length and everyone thinks they are looking at a stock bike till it starts up. I love these pipes, the quality is unsurpassed, the install is easy and the sound is sexy. But, you already know that. My advise to anyone is buy the Septres, you will have no regrets and be forewarned you won't be able to maintain that stoic bad ****** biker look for about six months after install, because stoic bad ****** bikers don't smile, giggle and laugh out loud while riding.
Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

after gutting several sets of pipes I have come to the conclusion that all after market pipes are a waste of money. Unless you want the look.Expensive for a look to me though.

I agree. I am surprised any of the after market pipes companies are still in business with all those worthless products.

They aftermarket pipes can do much more than sound good, and look good. Talk to Dinqua about dyno pulls with the different brands.
That being said, I'm cheap so I have gutted TORS I bought off Rob.

Not all afterarket pipes are a waste of money. They may be a bit expensive, but pipes for our bikes from Thunderpipes, D&Ds, Scepters and etc are pipes that are made for our bikes, so they come pretty much pre-tuned. So you are paying for two things, the looks (and style) of the pipes and the ready-2-go performance of the pipes.
Now for those that are bit more mechanical, have experience, have time and etc. maybe aftermarket pipes are not the way to go since you can do it yourself.
I bought a set of generic slip-on fishtails for my bike. I bought them because I love the looks. They sound good, but are bit too loud. Unfortunately I don't really have the time or a place to work on them to re-baffle them the way that I would like to do it. If someone made a set of fishtails just for my bike, would I buy them?, I probably would, it would be worth the time.

Well I have been building bikes almost 30 years so I have gutted almost every pipe there is to go on a brit plus some jap and Hardley stuff too. Cut SM pipes gutted except for the reducer are so far best dyno run I have had at almost 65hp with freak , no AI ,155 main and 48 pilot. Sceptre (on different bike so take that into consideration) long set not the short set came in at 61 hp. same set up just different bike. Sceptre was on 03 America rest were on my 04 SM.

I can understand the time and ability factor. I am speaking to guys who work on thier bikes often because they enjoy the do it yourself aspect. After market as a preformance item is a waste to me at best they might gain you a couple hp and to me the little bit you might gain isn't worth the extra $400 to $700 and so far I haven't seen an aftermarket that is better than gutted stock in preformance. Now I have only had a chance to play with D&D and Sceptre since I can't afford to buy pipes those were on bikes of friends of mine set up same as mine except the pipes.

Let me also say I am a fan of stainless so some aftermarkets are nice in that respect too. Funny I wanted fishtails when I was first looking into doing exhaust but couldn't find any long enough to suit me. For you ,Soren, there are slip in baffles for hardley drags you could use, Held in by 1 bolt don't know what effect they would have on your bike having never done it. P.S. I have used those baffles I am talking about in drag pipes for the old bikes. They work well for that application. For you you would have to pull the fishtails and insert them from the header end.

The non-baffled Sceptre's were too loud for me. Got annoying after a couple hundred miles.
I've been running the Sceptre's with the 2" baffle. I'm happy with them - sounds great to me. Got a buddy running the 1-1/2" - sounds good as well, just not as loud as the 2".

Happened to stop by British Customs yesterday. They had just finished a Speedmaster with the Nology Wires, their version of the Freak and some British Customs/South Bay Triumph pipes. The bike sounded awesome and the pipes are tuneable with just an Allen wrench. The mechanic doing the work said he preferred the BUBS as they dynoed better than the baffled aftermarket stuff. Now I am even more confused.
