I've just got back into biking with a 2006 Speedmaster and was wanting to know if anyone had tried any of the dog carrier products and if they have any recommendations. I'm not looking to go long distances with the dog - just to work every now again. The dog is only the size of a (small) cat - any help would be appreciated.

I don't think I've ever seen any dog carriers made for bikes, I'm sure sombody probly makes one though, guy in town here has one of them french(spit)butterfly dogs, Pappillion?(spit again), He just stuffs it in front of his jacket. Guess as long as the dog dont try to climb out its cool. Try local pet shop they may be able to suggest somthing.

 A lower cost alternative
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

T-Bags advertises a "pet carrier". I hope the link works, otherwise you can easily find it on the T-Bag website listed under "Products". jh http://www.tbags.com/detail.aspx?ID=57&SelectedCat=3

This completely made my day. My wife just got a new (well new to us) rescue minature Dachund. My Good ol'e mutt Laika has been a bit mopey with the new dog getting all the attention. She used to love the convertable, I bet she would enjoy the bike. Awesome

I live in the San Fernando Valley, there was this guy who used to ride around on his HD bagger and his dog "Lady Harley" would just jump onto the tank. He was cited a few times and beat the rap each time. See the link. Since I do not know how to post pictures into the thread. http://www.dogsonbikes.com/docs/BikerDogs/LadyHarley/LadyHarley.htm

Got one from Petsmart last year that works well enough. It can be backpacked, carried by a handle, and doubles as a doggy carseat. It was intended for our corgi but she got too big and wiggly after a few rides, so the OL insisted on going to the pound and getting one of those wee rat looking critters.

The goggles on the dogs might seem silly but do remember that dogs' eyes cannot make tears as people's eyes do.
Excessive wind exposure can damage a dogs/cat's eyes. That is one good reason why vets do not recommend letting a dog ride with its head out a car or truck's window.
Also - you do remember the last time a truck tossed up a bit of stone that hit you in the face, right? Want a blind dog? No? Good!

I would need a much bigger bike to take the dog along. A friend of mine bungie cords the dog crate or a milk crate to the back of her bike. But literally the dog has been riding on that bike since the day it ran in front of her and caused her to dump the bike.

Do not know if this helps.
When we went to the Marcus Diary rally a few weeks ago, Harley fest there was a booth that sold nothing eles but pet carriers for bikes.
It was pretty big display and always had a big crowd around it.
I saw a guy the other day on a Yahama with one of those baby back packs on with a little dog in it.
