Rod, I found this in the tech vault. Quote:
A Sylvania #6024 7" sealed beam headlight fits the bike for a LOT less than a new unit from Triumph. See a discussion on the topic here.

Go for the sealed beam unit. Vast improvement over stock anyway.

Mine's been cracked for the last two years. It's not just a lens, but a lens/reflector unit with the bulb holder in the back. It's a seven inch diameter so any seven inch replacement should work (I've just been procrastinating, but the tri-bar units look pretty cool). Tri=Bar

One big disadvantage I see is for us folks with the visors on the lights. They are a big pita to put on and I would hate to have to do it more than once.
Has anyone with the visor installed the sealed beam ? Mike

If I get time this weekend, I will go buy one and try it (with the visor).

YUP NP at all!!! I have a visor I purchased from my local {gasp} Harley dealer {gasp} for $9.99 ...(no HD logo on it ) went on easy as pie!
I had little or no problems installing the visor the first time and none at all the second time

I installed a visor with a sealed beam. It was a little tight but not bad.

That's what I replaced my sealed beam with. Opted for the 100w blue bulb. 3 months now, no problem. Better pattern on hi than the Silverstar.

the Silverstar.
I'm running a Silverstar bulb made for motorcycle use. The lack of side light while cornering at night is enough to make me wanna go back to church. (almost)
If anyone has designs to go buy a Silverstar for thier bike, I have one word of advice - don't.
Maybe I'll go get a sealed beam one of these days.

The Silverstar sealed beam is terrific compared to stock sealed beam my '05 came with. On the straights, or highway, anyway. What I didn't like about it was the rectangular pattern in really dark twisties. I like that ebay one that Soren posted above with the 100w bulb. I wasn't impressed with the quality when I took it out of the box, but the light pattern is good. At a traffic light or in town, lo-beam cuts off right at the bottom of rear window of car in front. Hi-beam casts a large, even, lit up pattern way down the road. These things are made overseas somewhere. The H4-type bulb came in a simple little cardboard box.

I put in a Sylvania sealed beam last night after my high beam failed on the silverstar bulb I put in a year ago.
For all of you new owners of the bike......this is one heckuva an improvement over the stock headlight. All my old gripes about the poor performance of the stock low beam are now gone.
I now actually feel comfortable with the light pattern and the downrange illumination with the sealed beam.
This is one of those simple yet clinically effective improvements you can make if you use your bike at all at night.
