I don't want to start another oil thread, but has anyone tried silkolene motorcycle oil? A local cycle shop uses it exclusively but I hadn't heard of anyone mentioning it here.

No comment, since I never heard of it before.

Never used it but i've seen it in the dealers shop, but it's way way expensive.

Used it a couple of times, no problems. I would recommend it. Very hard to find in my area.

Thanks for the feedback. Silkolene makes a semi-synthetic and a full-synthetic. The full syn oil seems to be more of a racing grade. The semi is much cheaper and still meets the specs in the owners manual. I can get a gallon of the semi for $32, but I can bring the jug back and the shop will fill it out of their bulk supply for $20. Turns out I've been using the semi-syn oil for the last part of the summer last year since they changed my oil the last time. I finally purchased a lift so now I can change my own oil.

Zipp, why pay for semi syn, when you can get full syntheic.
full sythetic is a much better oil and can take abuse much better than a synthetic blend. Most people buy semi-syn. because it's cheaper. I've been using full synthetic since the seventies and have nothing but good tom say about it(All snthetics)......Angelis
