I have been painfully and quietly watching all the "I got my tracking number" post with not a peep from UPS or a CC charge. In an attempt to avoid angering the "Holy S#%$!! that is a deal" gods, I haven't called, sent a nastgram..nothing. Well sports fans, I GOT MY CONFIRMATION this morning!! They only billed me $539.00 and there are 2 packages, one 7lbs the other 10lbs. I am geussing something was left off the order, my original total was $552.00(Retail was $1100 including shipping). I will wait this long for another deal like that with absolutely no complaints. No biggie, scheduled delivery is Wednesday. LMAO, I just had to tell somebody.
It would seem they waited to order the goods when the sale ended, which is probably not unusual in today's JIT world. The warehousing of goods in stock has largely gone the way of high button shoes. Some credit Dell with creating this style of doing business, but many automakers were doing JIT long before Dell. The automakers have trucks that pull up to the assembly line area just as the parts are needed, so as to handle the goods only once, which probably isn't news to most. To get those types of JIT delivery contracts, the carrier needs to ensure back up vehicle availability along the way, should a truck breakdown occur.
Although the service for this sale would not win any awards, the timing worked out for many of us with bikes up on the jack for the Winter.
