hey all, I have to admit that when my neighbor goes by on his harley, I'm envious of the sound. That deep rumble is just too cool. Just wondering what the best aftermarket pipes for my BA would be to accomplish the same. Also, has anyone here run just straight pipes on their bike? Dunno if that would even sound good- any input would be appreciated.

Sceptres!! By far the loudest pipes, stainless steel, great sound. I have them and love them! Can't go wrong. See them here http://www.newspeedmaster.com/html/sceptre_exhaust.html
Oh man!! I'm going to jail!!

I have Sceptres and enthusiastically recommend them. The sound is full and powerful, the response after install and new jetting is immediate, and they do get attention ( I have had no complaints, I get regular comments on how good they sound. ). They do give all others a run for their money when it comes to sound.

I have straight, custom made pipes and they are awesome. Not as throaty but great. Old bikers will comment on the memories they have of that sound. I will say, even with the re-jet you will have a large ammount of backfire on the downshift. LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES!!!!!

I like my Epco Stainless pipes. They have a classic Triumph snappy snarl that is a nice contrast to the HD rumble, rather like comparing a sportscar with a tractor.

God bless cheap 'ol JCWhitney! I have their 16" shorties on my Speedmaster. Good sound, nice and loud, $33 each! They are probably the lightest also (about the same as 2 cans of beer). I've had them on since last summer, no problems with the chrome, no discoloration, and they don't need any mounting brackets, just clamp to the headpipe.

I like my T bikes as well. But I do admit from time to time when I am at a stop light next to an atypical Harley with loud aftermarket pipes .....I'd like to be able to reply to the short blipped challenge with a pair of scepters.

BrianT, how well do the JC Whitney pipes fit? Do they slip into the header pipes like the stock ones? How well do the mounting brackets line up?

The last thing I would like my Triumph to sound like is a Harley...No offence to Harley's, but no !!!!

i like the sound but not the looks. When siting side by side, I think everyone can admit that a nice triumph has way more class and style than any harley that ever rolled out of wisconsin

Since no one's mentioned BUBs yet, I will . I have the BUB slash cuts and am quite happy with the sound and performance. Not so loud as to bother the neighbors when I'm leaving at 0:dark-thirty if I keep the revs down, but open 'er up; and they open up .

ask me the best sound is hollowed out stock with reducer left in for a little back pressure. Deeper and louder than Sceptre and save the wasted $620.I have doen several sets so far for people and myself too.Be sure to rejet removing the air box and AI effect the sound too. Again remember to rejet.

If you backfire you either need a larger pilot jet , have an exhaust leak near the head , or need more adjustment on the mixture screw.I run straight pipes and have it jetted right no backfire at all.

One of the guy’s I ride with (Kasey) has Epco’s on his bike. He ordered them with no baffles and extra long. They are the loudest pipes I’ve heard, which anyone who has ridden behind him can attest to. The photo is a shot of his bike....

Being someone that has ridden behind Kasey I can say he absolutely has the loudest pipes I've ever heard.

The D&D pipes have a "BIG" rumble to them. I think they are louder then the Sceptres. Donny, from this site has a used set he would probably sell for a reasonable price.
On the old site there was an area to listen to the different pipes. Is it still here???

Hi guys. After five years of dreaming, i have just purchased an 06 speedmaster. It is perfect, aside from the aftermarket triumph pipes being just a little too quiet. Would it damage my bike to remove the baffles? and would it sound better..or just offensive? I would like sceptres, but they are hard to get here in Aust, and can;t really afford them at present. Thanks for your help! Oh and "Soul Survivor"...you're in inspiration! Bill Murphy.

Welcome to the site. Good choice in the scooter. Removing the baffles will not damage the bike, but be careful when removing them because you can screw up the pipes if done wrong. I’ve heard completely gutted stock pipes and they do sound better but not offensive. However what isn’t offensive to me you might not like. It’s all a matter of personal taste.
