Just cruised the Trump site and saw the '07 Americas. Except for the engine change up...ick. Those wheels look like a** on this bike and never liked the reverse cone pipes anyway. I think they screwed around with the wrong things. Like HD messing with the handlebars and seats on their Springer. It's not the same bike anymore. Just my tuppence. BB

I am in the market for a bike this spring, I used to have an 04 America by the way. I really think I much prefer the grey engine. I think it just looks more old school or something. The only thing I like about the new America's is the Sprocket cover, but I assume that can be put on the older bikes. And I think I would like the chrome rear peg hangers off the new bike as well. I guess I need to look at 06's........................

Better not, we'd end up violating an un-written terms of use and get the thread shut down.

I went down to the dealer & scoped one. My take FWIW:
Wheels - the styling seems to give a nod to laced wheels. It could be worse. Polished (sorta) fork legs - Good thing. Zinc plated cylinder head banjo bolt - a plus for TBA. (don't know what year this actually happened) Hidden neutral switch, pickup coil, alternator wiring (like '06) - good. Plated sprocket cover - good. I think the old one took a styling queue from the timing cover on a panhead, but it never really worked. Blacked out engine/polished (sorta) fins - not retro, but nice looking. 865cc - Good. Touring (sorta) pillion - Bad for looks, good for relationships. Reverse cone nuveax phone slipons - Bad.
I came away with more +s than -s.
Said Molly to James, that's a fine motorbike.

I am very upset. I cannot understand why the thread on Thailand Triumphs was shut down. What is going on here? I had something I wanted to say on the subject. What rule did it violate? It wasn't political or religious it was about motorcycles for crying out loud.

Yeah, really! Everyone for the most part was behaving themselves.

Edited: Phil was referring to Tom's use of 1940 language which I deleted.

Tad, Not to hijack the thread, but did you know we have a "buffalo" Triumph dealer now? It's Buck's motorsports in Akron, they had a spot at the Cavalcade of Cars at the fairgrounds too last weekend! Seem like good people. jeff

I'm satisfied with my '02. Don't see anything exciting on the new Americas including the mill. My 790 pulls me around just fine and has been utterly reliable.

Jeff,
Whereabouts in Akron are they? I ride out to the rez quite a bit and wouldn't mind checking them out sometime.

I'm with you. I love the cast wheels. Gives an entirely new range of tire choices, and no tubes. No wheel to be checked and trued every 14K, easier to clean, and you can carry a plug kit and Co2 inflator in the event of a flat.
I don't need old school, I need practicality on my every day ride.
