i have been trying to find that weird noise coming from the front of the motor. i think it has something to do with the starter i will pull the starter this weekend to see if it has any fun wear marks or some sign of wear.

Might just be the infamous squeek from the front forks.

my '02 had the same sound last summer.... It was the hamster wheel needing some oil. Seriously, mine was the forks, I'm having the shop put in stiffer fork springs and new seals etc.... will let you know if that solves it.

I believe I've read either here, or another forum, that you can eliminate that fork squeak but spraying some lube, like WD40, up into the fork shroud. Then, with front brake applied, push on down on the handlebars a few times, then wipe away any excess lube. It's certainly worth a try...cheap, too.

The fork shrouds have a rubber wiper/seal on them. This rubber is what you are lubricating.
