Hey guys. I have a Ma's cycles signal relocation bracket. Love it, like that the signals stick out sideways to match the rear. BUT now that I have the aftermarket oil cooler on, at full lock the bracket touches the cooler hoses and I'm worries I'll chip something or break something.

So I'm looking for ideas of some sort of bracket that either hugs around forward along the forks more, or comes around the front instead of behind the fork tubes. I had considered using the JC Whitney bar for just the signals, but that would mount them vertically instead of horizontally to match the rear... Also considered fab-ing something, but I have limited tools and no place to chrome it...

If you like the look of the kellermann bar end front signals, you could use those. I think Brent has some pictures of them on his bike in his gallery.

You could get some nice chrome 41mmm clamps, remove your shrouds if you haven't already, and mount the silver bullets just under the top triple tree. Another member on the old board(can't remember his name so I don't know if he registered here), did it this way and they looked great. Kuryakyn has this 2 piece fork clamp(scroll down).

I am planning on using the JCW light bar for my signals (indicators) when I get the guts to start pulling wire and soldering. Another idea I have is when I get my WindVest, to use two of the Memphis Shades mounting bands to attach my signals sideways like you mentioned. They would basically be like yours are now, but higher/lower and to the outside of the forks. The clamps are dull aluminum, but not too ugly.

Benny, I have the same bracket with Kuryakyn lights but I did notice you can flip that bracket to raise or lower the lights. Additionally with my tool pouch being close I thought about spacing them. My local ACE Hardware carries a full range of metric and standard chrome nuts, bolts,allen head with caps, spacers etc. The spacers come in 3 sizes from 1/4" to 3/4" long in the different sizes too. Would spacing out 1/2 " or so help?

You think it's possibly to just buy the memphis shades bands? I kinda like that idea... Haven't removed my shrouds yet because I really don't want to tackle dropping the forks out just yet... Also considered trying to flip that bracket aroudn and space them differently... Neither of which will work I don't think... But I will definitly play around with it!

I looked at using the Memphis shade bands and I think it's a problem. You won't be able to take the Windshield off without losing the signals. Unless you plan on using the clamp it's self but I can't see how that would work.

Could you post a link to Ma's turn signal bracket?

What about adding another pair of MS brackets BELOW the existing 2 pairs of windshield brackets? - then figure out how to mount directionals permanently to them???

No windshield for me, I was thinking using the bands solo....I also have some spare rear signals that I want to use as replacements on the front to get rid of the pig tail wires, not sure how that would work with the band things.... haven't seen a pic of them...

Benny, I removed my fork shrouds and went with gaiters and Iused the Kuryakyn clamps Sal mentioned worked great and I think it looks pretty good as well.I'll e-mail you pics.

Thanks again for the pics Rusty. Jury's still out on the fork gators. Got nothing against em really, just not sure if I want to do that yet... Plus don't you have to drop the forks completely to get them in there?

Pulling the forks isn't bad at all. This is a good job to get to know your bike. It'll give you some good experience for down the road when you need to pull the forks to change the fork oil, or put in some Progressive springs. With the shrouds removed, it's also easier to pull the forks the next time.

Thanks Sal, maybe at the end of this season... Just curious tho, I didn't think you had to fully remove the forks for the progressive springs, just the caps, no?

Yes, just the caps. A 10 minute job with 4 hands. The other two can hold the bars so they don't smash the tank. 6 hands and the other 2 can hold heh beers for the other 4 hands.

Hey Pat thanks. You know what I was doing to hold my bars straight? A couple bungee chords. I think it may only work with the tank off, but hook it behind the frame gussets behind the steering head, thread it around a fork tube and back again, repeat on the other side... A little tension on either side keeps em in order. Big help when removing the front wheel too!

I used the Kuryakyn Mirror/integrated LED turn signals for the front (from Ma's Cycle). They are the coolest, but it will set you back $200. They also require a load equalizer.

For the back I installed the Kuryakyn halogens with the amber lenses, and took off the lolipops (see picture below).

Hey thug thanks. I like the look of those, the only thing I worry about is they are not visible from the side at all. ya know? Plus I really don't mind my pumpkins... But I like the idea of a signal I can get red lenses for since my rears are now running lights!

Visit your local independent HD shop and ask for the J&P Cycles or Drag Specialties catalog CD. They have some really interesting lighting options including running lights that clamp to the fork legs and a maltese cross headlight.

No, you don't HAVE to pull the forks to put in new springs, but I did since it was time to change the fork oil(24,000 miles or 4 years). Pulling the forks though is really a piece of cake. It's only about a 6 step process without the shrouds on. Easily done in about 20-30 minutes or so on my bike. I'm slow though because I like to clean in those hard to get to spots while I have everything off.

Thanks Sal. I'll go for it some rainy weekend later this year. Only 14K+ on my bike right now, so I'll wait on the fork oil. I do have one dented lower shroud and even have had the replacement shroud laying around just waiting for a moment to replace it....
