Does anyone have an explanation for the 194 bulb in the headlight housing?

That's the "parking light". If you turn your ignition key to the right, it turns the parking lights on.

I was told they call it a "pub light " in England. Maybe someone will tell the story of the English parking law. I am a little fuzzy on it.

Your owner's manual calls it a "front position light".

If you park on the street in england you need to leave a parking light on so people don't hit you. I remember some old VWs had one tail light you could leave on, right side for england, left side for normal ( ) that you could leave on.

Doesn't that light stay on all the time? Was thinking about using that for front running light circuit, would double as parking light.

I don't think so... I think it only turns on when the key is in that position, but you could easily test it.

The secondary bulb works whenever the key is on. I know this because it was the only light I had one night when my high/low switch went out, made for a long ride home, it is also the "Parking Light"
