I don't know if this will help anyone or not. I spent the best part of 3 hours trying to figure out why my tail light was not working, but the brake light was fine. I had one blown fuse, a 5 amp, and one that was good (#10 and #8) I put the good 5 amp in #8 and the tail light still did not work. After quite a bit of looking for shorts and whatever, I finally figured out that the tail light MUST have both #10 and #8 fuses to work It sure did not make since to me and still doesn't, but thats the way it works.

That's odd. Fuse 10 runs only the tail light & front position light, while fuse 8 runs only the headlight. The circuit diagram doesn't show any connection between the two.

Matt, I agree it's very odd. It still boggles my mind. I used the tester on it, chased wires, looked at the wire diagram and finally used one of my spare 10amp fuses where the blown fuse went and all was well. I again checked by taking the other 5 amp fuse out and again the tail light did not work. Give it a try, maybe my wiring is messed up, but I don't think so.

I forgot to include some facts. The #10 and #8 sockets in the fuse box both include a Position light reference. The #10 is only Position lights and #8 is Position lights and instrument illumination. Both of them having position lights listed is what prompted me to try a good fuse in both. The position lights work with just the #10 fuse, but not with only the #8. Man, I am more confused now than I was yesterday, I think anyway

the tailight also has 2 filaments, one for brake and one for tail. I had my tail light filament burn out, but the brake light still worked.

Jeff that would be right and I had tried 2 other new ones that were never used. The old bulb is now back in and working fine.
