Here's a beauty. Fastback's were rare for 1974. Common in '70-'72. 1974 was the last year for right-hand (proper) shift on the production models and it's a pure kicker (electric "assist" in '75). Now if I could just figure out where to stand so the big pile of money hits me in the head. The paint's not right for a commando, but I'm liking it anyway.

My first motorcycle ride was on the back of a Norton Commando, back in the early 70's. Belonged to a Captain in my Dad's company. One of these days....

Yeah. Someone just posted on a vintage list, they're on the 3rd Commando motor.

In the early 70’s I owned a Ducati and my buddy had a Norton. He was a scrawny guy at about 110 pounds and his Norton was raked with longer forks. His bike was nice but was very difficult to re-start when warm. So as luck would have it he couldn’t restart one day and he jumped on the kick-starter until he had no more left in him. I finallycame over to help him hold up the bike. He tried a few more times then fell off, pushing the bike over on me. I’ll never forget the searing pain as the header laid across my leg.

There is nothing better than a black Norton with gold lettering though.
