I took my 2006 TBA in to get a tank vent problem fixed. It was fixed but now my bike is hard to start when cold and needs a bit of choke until it is totally warmed up. My bike was running PERFECTLY when I brought it in. What could they have accidentally altered on the carbs when the checked out the tank? Are there any adjustments on the carbs I can do to bring back my once perfectly running TBA? I'm a pretty good shadetree mechanic but I'm not familiar at all with this bike.

sounds like it's time to start the deflowering process!!! Don't waste a bunch of time and money chasing down the factory tune-up when you are just going to alter the whole thing anyway. Get a set of Scepter pipes and an air box elimination kit and re-jet those carbs. You will love your bike in a whole new way.

Runs great once it's warmed up. While it's warming up, it sags a bit unless I have some choke on it. Used to be able to push the choke in after I started it and take off.

I have never been able to start with the choke, push it in, and go. I've always had to warm it some, ride off, and then push in the choke after a bit. Runs great after a few minutes.

I never ride with the choke part way out. I'll turn the idle up a bit after warming the bike up a bit, but no choke.

I can start my bike and ride off without using the choke, but only during the late spring/summer/early fall.

Sounds like it was running rich when you took it in, and now it's running right. They're not supposed to be good when cold, most british engines with carburettors require about 1/3 - 1/2 choke for about 2-5 (depending on weather) when they're cold.

That's not a bad thing - it reminds you not to hammer the engine till it warms up. That's the fastest way to kill them as the oil's still thick and the bearings still tight.

2006,I would bet you don't have too many miles on her yet.
Do you still have the Air Injection System still installed? The reason I ask is, the diaphragm in the vacuum operated valve is rubber and may have cracks in it. It is located under the tank. It directs fresh air from the air box into the exhaust stream. It is operated by vacuum off the left intake manifold vacuum port. Anyways, my 2003 had a strange noise at idle, seemed to run overly lean in 4th gear at 40mph. And if I remember right, I needed to leave the choke on longer than I was used to.

I told the dealership at the 4k servicing and all they did was bump up the idle speed. Yeh, ok, thanks. I removed the AIS and pulled apart the valve where I found the cracked diaphragm. I then installed Brent's AIS removal kit. It's been running great ever since.
