Put the new pads in
Let's Replace some pads now
Take the outer, smaller of the two, and put it back into the caliper assy. Line it up so the metal side is in the caliper and gently push down with both thumbs. The pistons will go down but with a lot of resistance. Push slow and easy so you don't force the brake fluid out of the front reservoir. That's why we made the level 1/2 full in the beginning. If there is too much fluid or you push to fast, it may overflow. Clean it up right away if it does spill.
It should look close to this picture when you have it properly re-inserted. Take the other pad, the one with the hook shape on the end, and place it back into the other side of the caliper assembly.
Slide the pad retaining pins back in the holes so that it holds the pads in place. You may have to push the pads up to align the holes. Then you place the assembly back onto the rear rotor. If the pads are too tight, you have to push the piston in some more until it fits. Wiggle the assembly a bit to get it to slide back on with the rotor disc in the center of both pads. Align the assy and replace the caliper mounting bolts.
Check the fluid level of the front brake fluid reservoir and replace the cap, being very careful not to get anything into the cap or reservoir itself. If it spills, clean it up right away.
