Check the old and the new pads

Let's compare the old and the new pads.

As seen in the above pix, the ones on the left are pretty worn down. They have less than a toothpick's width left to the pads. Also check that they are worn evenly across the surfaces. if they are worn crooked or uneven, there can be other problems that need to be corrected as well. Uneven wear is usually caused by bad rotors. The new pad on the right is obviously much thicker, close to 3/8 inch by my eyeball.

The new pads

These are the pads I used to replace my stock pads at 6,000 miles. The stock pads are pretty soft and wear quickly. The new ones are sintered and will grip and last much better and longer.
