Removing valve buckets, shims and the cylinder head

lift the buckets off of each valve and place them on your table in order, they MUST go back on the same way. Interchanging them will mess up your valve clearances. Then take your 8mm allen wrench and break loose, in criss cross pattern again, all 8 of the cylinder head nuts. They are really tight, break them each loose, then go back and remove them. Again, use the magnet to hold them from falling into the motor.

Remove the two front banjo bolts securing the oil lines from the oil cooler. They will leak a lot of oil! Wrap the with a rag and twist tie it on. Discard the washers and move the oil lines out of the way slightly.

Remove the large nut/bolt holding the front of the cylinder head to the frame.

Carefully break the cylinder head loose from the head and remove it, remove and discard the head gasket. Set the cylinder head on the table.

Remove the breather tube from the front of the motor and shove a rag in the hole, discard the o-rings from both ends of the breather tube.
