Barrels and Pistons

This is the easy part, just be sure everything is clean so no crap falls into the motor when you pull the cylinders off. Secure the can chain so it doesn't fall back into the motor as well. Then just lift carefully, you may have to break the seal of the base gasket. DO NOT HIT THE FINS WITH A HAMMER!! If you need to break it loose, tap gently with a dead blow hammer or a piece of soft wood around the bottom area of the barrels. Slowly and evenly lift the barrel assembly off of the motor. Be careful you do not loose the top or bottom locating dowels. Also be careful the pistons do not fall and slap against the motor either. I stick a piece of 1x1 pine under them to prevent this from happening.

Remove and discard the base gasket.

Now shove a bunch of rags into the big holes under the pistons to prevent crap falling in. Wrap the rags so if something falls on them you can easily get it with the magnet without having to move the rags.

Using your sturdy needle nosed pliers very carefully remove the circlips from the ends of each gudgeon pins. Carefully push the pins out of each piston and lift the pistons off of their connecting rods.
