Hi All, its been a while since I last visited due unfortunately to an extended NHS holiday courtesy of a young lady who thought her rear view mirrors where for applying make up not looking in before you hang a right!
So a punctured lung, broken ribs, irrepearably mashed spleen, a split blood bucket and various head issues not to mention only 1 ligament & tendon keeping the top of my left leg connected to the bottom {now aided by a wonderful metal contraption but I'M ALIVE and although I can never ride a bike as such again I got me a trike. So hello to those who remember this idiot and hello to all those I've never met. Catch you all later, stay upright, Horse.

Well good to hear that you are a living, breathing and riding again. If a trike is your present cup of tea it's good to know you are back in the saddle.

Welcome back and congratulations for remaining in the land of the living.
You'd have thought with all those wide open spaces in Lincolnshire that it would be difficult not see a motorcycle...but I am constantly amazed by car drivers partial vision.
I hope you'll be back on the road soon.

Sorry to hear this, I was in a car accident quite a few years ago and my back reminds me every so often, more now that I'm getting older, take care of yourself. In my local town's Facebook page, a young lady was complaining about being pulled over for talking on her phone, (MA is a hands free state). She said that the cops were "pathetic", I told her to tell the friends and relatives of the person you hit how pathetic it is, people are idiots.

Many thanks to you all, riding the trike is not bad, its a Rewaco aircooled vw thats had a turbo, fuel injecton fitted and a big bore rebuild to 1800cc (amongst other mods) and it gives me 100 gee gees at the back wheels, other than having to be aware of a prediliction for wheelies at the drop of a hat its very similar in ride position to my old 1958 Triumph Thunderbird chop except that as the trike has got girders not 16" over springers on the front end it's not like trying to ride a punk (girl) doing the pogo round the bends! I suppose my next major job will to be getting round to sorting out and selling the £1200 worth or so in spares I have stashed in my hoard for my late lamented and very much deceased Speedy.
All the best and stay upright, Horse.

May I ask what prevents you from riding 2 wheels? I know guys with legs missing that still ride 2. Not a jab or anything just curiosity. I would ride a trike if I had to in order to be able to ride.

Hi Dog,no offence taken m8. In the accident I damaged my left leg so severely that even with a brace it's on par with a chocolate fireguard only presumably may not taste as good, then to cap it all where the impact split my blood bucket it has left me (amongst other things) a problem with balance so not only can I not manouver a bike in and out of the shed or when parking/parked up because of said leg I also have this wonderful ability to fall over without any ones assistance. It's a total bitch cos I learnt to ride in 1964 on an old 1928 Royal Enfieild V twin with hand change, a total loss oil system (exposed valve springs etc) and a skirt guard still fitted to the rear mudguard. I'm probably lucky as its taken till now (with several crashes on route) to really do a good job on myself thanks to a daft bint in a motor who didn't think rear view mirrorrs were for anything other than applying makeup!

Wow, that really sucks, the balance seems to me being the worst part. I would love to have that Enfield you learned on!

It was a sweet if somewhat temperamental old girl, belt drive, hand oil pump ( 3 pushes a mile if memory serves), running boards and the weirdest girder front end in the world, instead of a spring there were about a half dozen thick giant sized rubber bands which meant when you stopped and let go of the front anchor the forks would spring forwards about 15" from nearly touching the engine to their normal ride position - oh and I nearly forgot the carbide lamps that really proved Joe Lucas was indeed the Prince of Darkness!
