Okay, I got the ol' mike out to check the rotor thickness for front & rear and both measured roughly +.08 mm. from minimum spec. & rotor run out was well out of spec for both. (the previous owner just changed pads / if at all). So I figured it was time to change em both out along with the pads. FastEddy has the EBC MD649 front & MD643 rear (stock one piece rotors) for my 07 America for about $343.00 plus shipping. Motorcycle Superstore has the EBC ProLite front & rear to fit the America for $282.00 (plus shipping). The difference is the Pro-Lites have an aluminum center hub rivited to a billet steel rings. My question is between stock & the Pro-lites which would be the better choice. I'm leaning toward the stock rotors as the 2-piece construction seems a bit iffy to me especially in the event of a hard braking sitiuation. Has anybody run the EBC Pro-lite rotors on their machines & could you share your impressions re: durability, wear, & etc. Thanks bunches

The EBC Prolite are floating rotors I'm guessing? That would be the way I go. Fasteddy doesn't have a option to get floating rotors?

MD 601 from fasteddysports.com here . If you don't see what you want email him, he may be able to get it. I forgot to add... the EBC floating rotor works just fine with better brake feel and better stopping power. Since it floats you won't get that annoying rotor wavy feel thing that happens = solid brake feel. Its a worthwhile upgrade!

Logic dictates they are the way to go. I haven't done it yet, but will when the time comes.

The 2 part construction, as long as designed well, is the better system in most cases since they are floating in most cases. (I have seen 2 piece that are just rivited fast with no float)The floating allows better contact with the pads.

The floating rotors are much less susceptible to warping too.

Seems that the consensus here is to go with the floating rotor (front only). I messaged Eddy via FB but he hasn't gotten back to me yet....no problemo what with Christmas just days away. I'm not sure if the EBC pro-lites on the motorcycle superstore website are floating or fixed riveted into place on the hubs. There wasn't much information available. At present with the stock rotors (albeit they are very worn) I don't sense much wobble/ wavy or pumping feel at the control or in steering. Probably cause the pads are seated to the wear of the rotors themselves. Anyhoo, I will probably go with the replacement set (front & back) from Fast Eddy's (thanks Zmilin ). I figure the extra $$$ would be a worthwhile investment. Thanks to all for your advice / contributons.

imho the reason to not use a floating rear rotor is predicated on a cost/benefit analysis.

Got my new rotors from Fast Eddy today & will be doing the wrench work tomorrow. I'm looking forward to much improved stopping response (two fingers) from the new rotors & pads vs. the old worn stock components. Thanks Ed for the fast response....Is that how you got your handle?

Yeah! The new rotors & pads are on & both front & rear are mostly blead tight. I letting the calipers hang overnight to clear the last (hopefully) of the air in the lines & etc. Hoping to ride tomorrow....it's suppose to be in the high 50's in the afternoon.
