The Southwest Triumph Fest sounds like fun; however I don't have enough time off to extend my trip past June 1. Maybe next year!

I haven't posted in quite some time, but I am currently living in Josua Tree, California because I am stationed at the nearby 29 Palms, CA U.S. Marine Base.

Going on two years here now; there are some great things about living in the Mojave, and some really sucky things. Overall, I've enjoyed it here so far. Some GREAT riding during the the spring.

Yep Benny, Joshua Tree National Park sure is beautiful.

Btw...the next time you're down around Casino Morongo, stop into their ground floor restaurant and order yourself one of their Monte Cristo sandwiches. Mmmmmmm...they're gooooood!!!

(...oh and also btw...thank you for your service to our country!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Thanks, Dwight.

Been to the Casino a few times, I'll have to try a Monte Cristo next time. Oh, and the Monument has 'National Park' status these days!

Yep! I thought it might be after I entered that above, so I googled it, and as you can see, I changed it just before your response!

(...this here editing function sure comes in handy sometimes, huh?!)

Hi Chris. That's exactly where many of us started on this forum. We pretty much get along and try and help each other (aside from the odd clown). Welcome to the circus!

This is my first post on this forum. I wandered over here from a link posted at another forum regarding the new SM. Based on my short initial visit, I expect much help in learning about Triumph MCs.

I started lusting over British MCs when I was a boy of 15 living in Paris. My parents had just bought me a Lambretta scooter for the Christmas of 1958, and one day in the Spring of 1959 I was rounding a corner in the little village of Marly-Le-Roi when I spotted this big, black beautiful MC. I saw it just long enough to see its Norton badge in the tank. I started saving my money for the day when I would be old enough to ride something like this. A year or so later I saw my first Triumph and vowed I would own one some day.

It took a little more than 50 years, but today my dream will come true. I'll be traveling to New Orleans this morning to place a deposit on a red 2011 Speedy. Some modifications will be made to this bike as the result of a physical inability I have (age and health related), so I will not be taking delivery until June 2.

Hi Steven and welcome to the forum. You have chosen well with that beautiful red 2011 speedy - they look awesome and ride brilliantly. You will only regret you didn't get one sooner. There's plenty of help to be had in this forum.

Hi All,
My user name is Amglo (obvious), my real name is Jerry, I will answer to almost anything. I rode for twenty years, dirt, street and in-between. I stopped for the last 19 years and got back in the saddle a year ago. Last year I bought a Suzuki S50 (805 cc V-Twin) because it was light and the seat was just 25 inches off the ground. In the last two weeks I sold the rice burner and bought a 2011 America Classic. I love the bike but need some minor adjustments (I am vertically challenged), new seat arriving tomorrow, crash bars & footboards later in the week.
My previous rides/experiences have been with bikes as small as an original (new) Hodaka 90 Ace and as big as a '58 Panhead HD back in the 70's.

I live in Fresno CA, perfect place to live if you ride, 267 average clear days a year, 2 hours from the coast and 20 minutes to the mountains. I am about 1.5 hours from the center of Yosemite National Park.

I am looking forward to chatting with most of you, I know that these forums are a gold mine of information.

Cheers all & ride like you mean it,

Jerry

Gidday and welcome Jerry. Great choice of bike. We want to see some photos (post them in the Member's Rides forum). We haven't seen many 2011 models here yet in the (digital/virtual) flesh.

(edit) Wow, that was quick. I just went over to Member's Rides and there you were!

My name is Jon and this is my first post. I recently bought a '02 Bonneville America. I have admired Bonnevilles since my dad first owned a '69 way back when...

I have owned two Bonnies previously - a '79 and a '02 "new" Bonneville. But I'm more of a "cruiser" guy (have owed many over the years) and that is why I like the America so much - best of both worlds, imo.

I live in Arkansas currently - just moved back here from California. Tho Cali was my boyhood home, I've spent most of my life in AR. The reason I chose Ar over Ca is not because I dont like Ca. No, Cali's a great place... to visit. Too many people and too expensive for me. Besides, I think Ark has some of the best riding in the country.

Anywhay, I have already bennefitted from the forums a lot. I think I'm gunna like it here.

(I dont yet have any pics to share but here is a link to the gallery of the previous owner. https://picasaweb.google.com/bryan.a.shipman/2007MYBIKE?feat=directlink# .)

Jon, you absolutely MUST come to the Arkansas Rally in the fall, we have been gathering in Eureka Springs for the last 3 years, don't know if that will be our base station this year. You are correct, Arkansas has some of the greatest riding for 300 miles in any direction. Check out the old threads in the Rides and Rallies section, and get ready to see some info on the one coming up in October.

Hey all!

I'd figured I'd throw my hat into the ring with this one.

My name is Louis, son of Louis (capt_lou). I was born in '82 in Delaware. Since my father was military, we didn't stay there too long.

We then moved to Ohio and that was were my first memories kind of started. Ohio is where most of my life kind of happened. Elementary, Jr. High, and 2 years of High School. I spent most of my time taking after my father.... challenge authority intelligently. My teachers either loved me or hated me. I was in track and cross country for sports and then I discovered music. I was in band playing clarinet and then discovered guitar and have been playing it ever since. I also learned how to "hack". Many all nighters full of Jolt and modems were wasted. I started the High School's first Computer Club. Computers were my livelihood. Not so much in a geeky way too much. I did all the bad stuff. LoL The stuff you see in movies I guess (e.g. Wargames, Hackers, etc.)

The summer of my 2nd year of High School, we moved again to FL. That was tough for a teen. Two years away from graduating with your life long friends and you move. So, I had to learn how to engage with the other "clicks". That's when I thought it would be great to re-invent myself into the bad kid. Bad idea. Florida is an easy place to find the bad stuff. Also, the school was literally 2 years or so behind northern education. So, I started skipping classes and what not. It was all pretty crazy then.

Fast forward a year of bad stuff...

With being such a good bad kid, I decided in order to be a true I.T. guy I either had to spend 4 years in school or get a job. Well, the only company that would take me w/o true experience was the U.S. Army. My parents loved the fact I was joining. It was a true boot in the arse for me.

I spent the next 7 years in the Army. They truly kicked me into shape (mentally & physically). I fast-tracked through the ranks. I became one of the enterprise admins the 1st Infantry Division had ever had. The Army was truly a great experience for me and I would never change it. I then got put on orders for recruiting and decided that I couldn't do that. I just wanted to do my job so I got out.

I consider Florida home so I decided to try and get back to it. A friend/old boss hooked me up with a job in Tampa and now here I am! Back in Florida where it all started 10 years ago for me.

I'm now junior to the Director of Information Technology for the largest pool supply chain in the Southwest managing over 300 servers, large storage fabric, and network to boot. I'm pretty happy with the way life has gone so far.

As for bike riding, my father said he was going to start and did. He used to ride when he was younger but decided to do it for real now. Anyways, once he got his license and made riding his Triumph Speedy sound like so much fun I decided I should give it a go. Now here I am, riding my beautiful '03 America and so glad I decided to Triumph.

So seeing as how I'm pretty junior in the bike riding world, if there are any techy/I.T. things I can do to help out with the site to contribute, please don't hesitate to ask!

Greetings all. I am the 'Arsenalfan' aka, Mark.

I was born (1963) in Hemel Hempstead, England, which is the ugliest hole on the planet. Moved to Hounslow, a suburb of London when i was a 6. Left school at 16 and spent the next ten years either despatch riding, driving trucks or minicab driving. I lived in Hounslow until I met an American girl in a pub in Twickenham, (few miles from Hounslow).

I got engaged on our third date, married three months later. We lived in an apartment in the Docklands of London for a year, then moved to a absolute ****hole of a town called Faversham just outside of Canterbury in Kent.

Moved to the USA in December of 1993. The best thing i ever did. I live in a small city called Cleveland which is 20 miles north of Chattanooga. I have two 9 year olds, Boy and Girl (twins).

During the day i sell the worlds finest automobiles. Jaguar, Land Rover and Porsches. (I am a Jaguar nut)

This year (sept) I will celebrate 20 years of marriage to the same wonderful woman.

Love this site. Even though i have not shown my face in the lounge for a couple of years. There are some really awesome people on here and i must check in more often.

Yes....often. Though we don't get to take Porsche home so often. But i get to use the Jags quite often. I have my own as well, but she is getting a bit old now. The New XJ cars are incredible. I never get bored of driving one of those and last week i took a XK-R for a ride. Holy Moly, that thing is a hot rod.

For anyone who didn't go to the Arizona rally or who I didn't meet while at the rally...I'm Stephen Stewart, son of Paul, or PES...I only know his username or w.e by word of mouth, so my bad if it's not exact. I have a blue america that I plan to add many things onto. The south west rally or Arizona rally was my first real bike trip n it was extremely well done (like I would know) . I really enjoyed going with my pops and I can't wait for more adventures to come.

Hello folks, I'm Matt. Have been lurking in the shadows here for a while and just registered. I've been in northwest Florida (in or around Pensacola) all my life. It does get hot here and it does get cold to me but I can ride most of the year. Have visited many places in the states but own property here and have family here. Haven't felt the need to leave. Rode motorcycles in the woods a bit in my teens, street bike to high school. Vehicles had four wheels most of my adult life. Worked in the cable TV/telecommunications business for 27 years as a technician of one sort or another. Had enough of that and have been doing very part time work while looking for better. Got back on a motorcycle in 2008. Bought a Bonneville, it felt like what I rode when younger. Got my confidence back quickly then sat on an America. Bought one of those. After several years of owning two and no longer working full time I had to part with one. I do miss my Bonneville, still love my America.
