I want to put a bigger sprocket on the front to drop rpm's on the top end. Anyone found a good combo yet? How many teeth and will stock chain work?

18 or 19 tooth, you can get from fasteddysports.com or newspeedmaster.com

19t, stock chain works fine, 30min to 1hr mod. Really easy. No longer looking for sixth gear and still OK off the line.

What year is your Speedmaster. The early models had 16 tooth front sprocket. The later models went to an 18 tooth (I think).

I've had the 16t (stock sprocket), the 18t, and currently the 17t. Chain will work, no problem with any of them.

You adapt to what you have. I liked the 16t for the first 8-10k miles (I can't remember), then the 18t made it a whole new motorcycle, and then I put the TRIUMPH America chain and sprocket kit (with the 17t front sprocket)on, and I'm just as happy with it. I even think seriously about going back to the 16t next chain/sprocket change....I liked it when I had it, and the bike runs so good over 5k rpm I think it would be fun to be able to run the higher rev range on the highway more than I can now.

You can't go wrong.

Mine is an'04 SM. As you know it turns about 4000 rpm at 60mph. How much will my rpms drop going from a 16 tooth to a 19 tooth?

I have a 17 tooth on mine, and I am sitting at 4000 rpm's at 70 mph.

4000 rpm x 16t = 64000 divided by 19t = 3368 rpm @ 60mph.

You'll drop aprox. 200 rpm's per tooth in high gear I run a 19't and think it would pull an even higher gear with no problem. I'm up to 51 MPG!
