Bills of Interest :
HB254 -
Subject: Relating to the penalties for possession of two ounces or less of marihuana.
HB823 -
Subject: Current Texas law provides a "defense to prosecution" for an offense under Texas' Unlawful Carrying of Weapons statute if you are "traveling." However, "traveling" is not defined anywhere in law, and a "defense" means that it could be up to a judge and/or jury to decide what "traveling" means - after an arrest has been made. This is problematic for both law-enforcement and law-abiding citizens. HB 823 would take important steps toward clarifying that you can carry a handgun in your vehicle for protection without a Concealed Handgun License.
HB2206 -
Subject: Relating to authorizing a justice or municipal court to grant an occupational driver's license. This works with HB254, since the feds require driver's license loss when convicted of possession.
HB2418 -
Subject: Relating to the authority of peace officers to conduct certain searches.
SB1195 -
Subject: Companion bill to HB2418. Relating to the authority of peace officers to conduct certain searches.
