The largest on line supplier of MC parts here in Canada does lots of videos related to our favourite mode of transportation Although he does not purport not using any lubricant on chains he does advocate for using a little bit of gear oil so although a couple guys in the SW claim no lubrication is required I have followed his lead, but I digress. He claims that one should always buy the same brand/model of tire for the front and back as they are designed to compliment each especially when driving on wet roads. Any thoughts on this I am looking at new shoes soon?

I mix and match all the time and I also don't lube an o ring or X ring chain either since the seal that keeps dirt out also keeps the lube out. All gear oil will do is cause dirt to stick to the chain acting as an abrasive. I think compound is more important than brand.
