Am I out of line for thinking $170 is expensive for an oil change? Was I wrong for being a little surprised that 2 tires and an oil change cost me $750?

My point was simply ... "warn a brotha". I would have said never mind.

Oil change on what?

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Yeah it's ridiculous what they charge for an oil change on a MC. First the rip you off on the oil charging $15-17 per quart the there's the labor. Tires are ridiculous too.

And am I a bad person for wanting to smack someone in the mouth when they say something to me like "it's not like it is on a car".

You're right ass clown ... it's easier than it is on a car.

Do I come across looking like a jabroni or something? Or some squid GSXR rider?

The 2000 thunderbird featured in my other thread. Simple filter / oil refill situation. No body work to speak of or complicated parts to remove. Just need a socket and an allen.

$170 for an oil change? That's about right IF you are driving a Kenworth or Peterbuilt.

Do your own oil changes. Castrol oil and a Mobil M-108 oil filter. I get the oil on amazon, 6 qtw for about $40, takes 20 minutes to do. 6,000 miles. I got ripped off by Doc's in Wtby CT. Bought a front tire, they even charged me for the test ride. Then they wanted to sell me a $80 LED head light?????

That would be the last dime that dealer received from me.

It very well may be mike. And I likely have a scrambler or a tiger in my future. Or both. And maybe a street triple ;-)

Between the issue Sunday (dealer organized and ran the group ride), and the ****** with the shop I likely will not buy any of them from this dealer.

Ironically I met the owner Sunday morning at breakfast. He picked up the tab. Seemed like a cool dude, so I'm leaving room for the possibility of sorting things out in the future. He wasn't directly involved with any of the issues.

That's the problem with business lately. The owner(s) is a business major who has no clue and either stays out of the way or (worse) meddles with the operation until everything is a mess.
Used to be that a mechanic or at least an enthusiast would save up and open a shop based on what he feels is right. He would have an idea what is going on and do right by his customers.

I guess I get to be a bit more negative. I would never leave a bike or car anywhere without knowing what the price will be when I come to get it.

But that price is highway robbery.

There is a car dealer down the road from me that charges $19.95 for an oil change on any car or pick up. This public outreach has almost doubled their car sales.

That might be a good gimmick for one of these Triumph dealers. Maybe a realistic price would be 50 bucks.

My last oil change on my America was $65.00. Oh ya I bought the kit from Fast Eddy and did it myself.

Took my new Rocket in for its 500 mile service to keep the warranty in tact. $365.00. That will not happen again.

Indian dealer charged me $150.00 to mount and balance Avons and I took them off the America.

What a racket.
