Jeff, looks great. I'd like a couple of the patches, regardless on how you end up with the name (I'd vote for "Friar John Bedard").

Gettin' close there, Jeff, however I think the "Friar" should go before John's name.

I mean, that's how we always addressed him, right?!

Agreed +2

+3. The patches are for ba.com members. We all knew him as Friar John. I too was thinking the patch and sticker could be the same. Not sure the star thing suits it. Just an opinion... I'd be proud wearing anything in John's honour.

Ha ha! Us designers, we are never understood!

The star thing is actually the spiked collar of a bulldog. Couldn't get the bulldog in, so the collar was the closest I could do.

I also had a suggestion saying this:
"To us he was Friar but before that he was John. Friar was his nickname/forum handle so it should be in the middle."

I'll think about it and will see which one is the preferred one.

I'm getting quotes on stickers and patches early next week.

Look at the number of active members on here. I think a few hundred of each would sell out super quick. Just a thought...

His nickname/handle isn't "Friar". It's "FriarJohn". It is important.

"FriarJohn" Bedard...just like we knew him.

I appreciate the effort on the dog collar version, just not so sure that it translates as intended...

The round patch looks real good, though.

I'm thinking there's going to be monies required up front for set-up, etc.

Could/should we start a fund to get this ball rolling?

I definitely want a patch and a sticker too.

Also I think it should be..."Friar" John Bedard.
I like either Hammer of Smiting or Ride On Chuckleheads. Both are great.

Ok,

Got to go and run with this or I won't be able to get them done in time for the rally.

Here would be the finalized versions of the patch and sticker.

The patch was cleaned up. First, because after talking to close friends of John, it was mentioned that we didn't really need all the hype of the patch. Plus, the process of making a patch is not like printing and a lot of the details are lost.

The sticker has pretty much all things associated between John and the ba.com site. I have more freedom because of the printing process so that things can be razor sharp. The dog collar is gone... I get attached to some ideas I come up with and try to stick with it even though it doesn't work... but I do listen to reason sometimes and well... it's gone!
Also, the sticker is round with a grey background. I'm afraid that the smaller letters and details would be a pain to apply and make sure they would transfer well to wherever you want to stick it. The extra squared grey back is there so you can make out the sticker on ba.com white background.

There you have it.

You have a choice. If you prefer something simple, then the patch it is. If you want to place all those memories together, then the sticker has them all (well, not all of course!)

I'm waiting on sticker prices (should be cheap) but I got a quote for patches. Getting 100 done would be $1.70us each (plus shipping). Is that a good price or is there someone in the US that can get better?

I don't mind coming up with the money up front. Depending on when I can get them in my hands, I could handle the shipping to you. If the timeframe is too short, I could just send a whole shipment to someone present at the rally and they could be distributed there.

Patch and sticker:

I would like 10 shipped to Australia. I haven't counted hands from our people in Oz yet but 10 should cover it (plus 20 stickers). Sending them to one destination in Oz for redistribution makes sense.

Perceval, can you please just add our 10 patches and 20 stickers to your production run. It doesn't matter what the freight costs.

Attention Aussies. PM me to let me know if you want one and with your postal address.

Btw... I don't mean to assume anything here acting on behalf of the Ozzie members but I noted Jeff's need for prompt production and thought I should get an order in quick and at the same time i could simplify one part of the distribution for him and help our members here.

My patches are military themed, but I would be proud to wear one of the Good Friar. I like this version fine. One of the first to greet me and gave good advice, can't get better than that.

Won't be going to the Rally, but if you get into the shipping side after you take care of the rally folks, I'd appreciate 1 or 2.

This thread has become a bit overwhelming and hard to follow. I suppose most members would like to purchase these.
I would like to suggest the following.
Perceval/Jeff contact the admins, Moe,Chy,Wojo. Decide on the designs, the pricing and how to distribute them.
Once this is agreed on. Pin the post to the top of the page and lock the thread with the designs and costs.
With instructions to contact the seller/distributor/jeff via PM.
Again Jeff thank you for tackling this idea.

My hat's off to Jeff, Z, and all the other contributors to the Patch & sticker design...excellent job! and $1.70 is dirt cheap too! Put me down for 2 of each!

Any chance these will be ready / in the U.S. before July 4th? I know there's a bunch of us "chuckleheads" that'll be jamming the roads to the Midwest Rally on the 5th that would love to be stylin one on their riding gear in memorial to Friar.

I hope no one minds that I downloaded the designs and printed one for my BA. I pasted two versions each of the patch and sticker into a word doc, one white on black and one reversed to black on white to see which showed up best, and applied the white on black sticker version to my windscreen.

Still shocked by his loss, but ready to tell the local Harley riders what a great site John oversaw and what a great community of riders still hang out here.

BTW, Any chance the stickers can be made reflective? Just a thought after seeing the AMA sticker in the photo.

This idea of Mike's will be effected shortly. Jeff, (Perceval) will be posting a summary of the in and outs of Memorial Patch/Stickers. Look for it and please do not reply to his summary post as the post is intended for information purposes only. (when we see his summary post we'll be locking it, all replys to Jeff's, soon to be made, new summary post will be lost)
