I'm sitting here feeling pretty optimistic on my 64fh birthday.. and first day of retirement so I am thinking its time to get the band back together again. Or have another rally.. Yeah that's it.
I'm thinking Sep 16 17 18. The leaves ought to be changing by then and it should have cooled down a bit. I don't know how many more get togethers we have in us but I think its time to get on with it.

Hope to see a lot of y'all there.

Happy Birthday Chy,
don't know if i can wait that long.
may stop down sooner if I need a few days off in the spring.
but I will schedule a week in september for a rally
Posted By: chy Re: GA Rally 21 - 04/08/2021 2:36 AM
Well come on down.. I will be hanging around here somewhere.
Posted By: moe Re: GA Rally 21 - 04/16/2021 7:04 AM
Happy belated birthday Chy!

September rally sounds reminiscent of the ride to Robert’s town. Maybe dinqua will show up and not get turned around by freezing rain. Retired now? Guess Yota and I won’t stop by the dealership to surprise ya next week. Pole barn yes.

No more stealerships please. I have done my time.
Posted By: Blackwind Re: GA Rally 21 - 04/20/2021 2:17 AM
Thanks for the assist, Moe.

I’m back in the saddle again! It’s been way too long!

On my calendar for September.

Happy belated birthdays to everyone it applies to.😉

I hope I can work that into my plans this yr ! I miss it all , the roads , the people , the camp fire and that sweet little mountain town !

September, huh? I might have to wipe the cobwebs off the old motorscooter for this one... that would be OUTSTANDING! I guess I should replace the tires for this trip... what are you "in the know " fellers using these days?
Posted By: snekeptp Re: GA Rally 21 - 07/18/2021 1:47 PM
and reservations made.
see you all in september.
Posted By: Wade Re: GA Rally 21 - 07/20/2021 3:27 AM

I'm thinking of riding down Saturday, possible meet up somewhere.
Cherohala Skyway Saturday maybe ?
Posted By: chy Re: GA Rally 21 - 08/01/2021 12:43 PM
I could probably pull that one off..I've been wanting to ride up that way again myself. Looking forward.to.it.

Are you staying in the new gigantic hotel that our leading prominent citizen built right in the middle of town? So much for historic Dahlonega. I hear there is another company vying to build yet another giant hotel in the middle of town. Best visit while you can.. Between the college, wealthy developers and all these people moving in who just cant seem to figure out what to do with all that money, there's not much left of the town I grew up in. Roswell has arrived..so much for quiet country living.
Posted By: mikemm03 Re: GA Rally 21 - 08/02/2021 12:55 AM
Geez man. sounds like Big money and outsiders are ruining another part of Americana.
Haven't heard anything about a new hotel on the square.
I personally do not have any lodging reservations.
Posted By: lynchphoto Re: GA Rally 21 - 08/16/2021 3:46 AM
Where are you staying this year Pete ? Anyone staying at the Raj ?
Posted By: snekeptp Re: GA Rally 21 - 09/04/2021 11:55 PM
Staying at the one near the school, closest to oak grove.
You know, whete the utes got drunk on the curb and we'll... It did not end well

I’m not going to make it this year either.

Simply can not hire help at the shop. It’s only the owner and myself after our parts manager left in July. Interviewees either consistently stand us up and no-show, or they want a king’s ransom to get off the couch and come to work. It’s not a good situation, and I see sky-high car repair bills in EVERYONE’S future along with the other general inflation we’re all experiencing.

It’s not helpful that the wife and I came down with the COVID last month keeping me home two weeks already. It took 3 to get over it, and glad it’s behind us, but I’m going to have to retire myself to put one of these trips together it appears.

New T120 I bought last Christmas just rolled over 6,000 miles and both tires are toast. While y’all are riding N. Georgia I’m taking her in for new shoes, driving lights, fork springs and an early 10,000 mile service. At least it’s football season and I can chase my SHSU Bearkats around on Saturdays for the next 2 1/2 months. WE’RE CURRENT NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!! GO KATS!

You all be safe.

How many miles on the America now? You do rack up some miles on your bikes.
I retired this year myse!lf.. The dealership game has changed a lot over the years and I decided I just didn't want anymore. Long hours, crappy vehicles and butthole technicians finally got the best of me.
Glad y'all got through the covid okay.. Maybe next year.

I arrived in Dahlonega this morning, what a mess. Road construction at less than comvienent locations, and crews mowing shoulders all over the roads. But damn nice to be in the mountains again. Once I check in at tje hotel and empty the clothes from the bike may stop by Chy's. Tho I seldom do this early in the week. I tend to take a few lone rides before the rally gets going

Well things are really rolling along now, it finally stopped raining long enough for us to get out as a group. We met Patrick today so we are now 5 riders. We are headed to Blairsville tomorrow to Jim's smokin Q ,leaving here around 10 or 1030 we should be there before 12 barring rain delays. Y'all oughtta come on down and join us.

I had planned to meet up with you guys today, however rain and thunderstorms after lunchtime in the region
( especially my area) have changed my mind. I'm just not in a mood to ride back in a driving rainstorm.
You folks enjoy that wonderful BBQ and be safe out there.

I see the same thing so we are likely just going to do a couple of local rides today. Not really into Blood Mountain in the rain. Oh well, we will continue to make the best of what we have. Sorry we missed you Mike hopefully we can try to get together again.

Well folks, despite the everday rain this year we managed to pull another one off. We were missing Di but Moe and Angie pitched to help make it all happen. We did pull off one pretty good group ride on Saturday for a couple of hours whilst not straying too far from home. It was real good to sit down with our extended family again and getting to hear the sound of the Triumphs coming up the road to the driveway. As always much thanks to you folks who took time out of your lives to come eat and ride with us again this year and we hold out hopes we will all be able to do it again next year.

another great visit to GA. 1525 miles total trip with a painful 11 hours and 643 mile ride home. We met a new friend when Patrick showed up. Got to meet the new rally mascot Boo, such a cutie. the weather was great, on the way down and on the way home. rained every day in GA, but lots of great time just hanging in the pole barn working on Gordons triumph. cant wait for my next visit.

Well, I've been a member on this site for 10 years and used it for awhile before I joined. But, this is the first year I learned of the rally. What a shame!!! I have been riding the N. GA mountains in that area since the mid '80s but, going out with a group of guys that know the roads that are tailored to a BA was just incredible. Plus, you know you're with great riders when you seldom ever see a brake light.

The best part of the 824 mile trip was meeting the guys. Great stories, great folks, great bikes and great eats. Thanks everyone for a fantastic weekend. I look forward to my next trip.

Hey, Chy. Just saw this.

My 2004 Speedmaster is sitting at 115,400 miles now, and I still ride her, though that’s rapidly coming to a halt, I’m afraid. She needs a new crank, as the timing chain sprocket on the crank is coming apart. It started acting like a crank position sensor would, killing it instantly at any speed, any lean angle without warning. Liked to have killed me twice on I-10 running through downtown Houston. She’s been garage kept and still looks great. Despite going down twice in Georgia!

I don’t trust myself to do it, and I don’t have the heart to put a different motor in her. It just wouldn’t be the same. I don’t like motor work in my shop because it bogs the whole shop down, and the potential for expensive re work is great if it’s not done right - and as a result I’m hesitant to ask another shop to take it on - even the dealer, even though they might. It would cost far more than the bike is worth. I sure got my money’s worth, though, and she and you guys all thoroughly changed my life in the process.

I only put 17K on my 2009 Speedmaster in 7 years before I sold it this Spring. Don’t ask me how I managed that, as my home flooded in 2015, ‘16, and ‘17, and again in 2019 before we moved. We had lived there since 1996, and really never had any intention of moving again until the flooding started. I also had back surgeries in 2014 and ‘15, and a major career change after that one that cost me over 8 weeks of paid vacation a year. That’s when I got away from the dealership world, but what I do now doesn’t pay nearly as well.

I took a new T120 just before Christmas and I’ll hit 7000 miles this weekend on it. Already wore out and replaced both tires! I’m ready for a road trip!
