My wife suprised me with this 2006 Triumph America for my birthday in February of 2009. She said that she felt sorry for me when watching me stare at bikes on BonnevilleAmerica.com every night after work! By far the best birthday present that I have ever recieved. Her are some pictures of the changes that I have made over the past year.

January 29, 2010

Taken today, This winter I have done the following:
Lowered with progressive shocks and fork springs
Trumpet exhaust
Nash Handlebars with Jammer grips
Headlight visor
Maverick Customs seat
relocated Arlen Ness Turn Signals
New shorter fork gators

June 25, 2009

Mods Made over the first year:

How it was purchased and taking it for a slick scary first ride

The first year was great. This year I plan to do some bobbing and painting. But, I think that I will ride it like it sits this coming summer. Thanks for all the help and ideas!

Looks like 2" front and rear to me.

I put 11.5" progressive shocks in the rear, and the progressive 2" lowering kit in the front.

Mike,
Thanks again for all the help with the seat. In my opinion it is actually more comfortable than the Corbin, and I love the way it looks.

Thats how I understand it too. I wanted to be sure because in my mind the dunlops didnt look as good as the maxxis ones. And THOSE look pretty good. Although I still can tell from the size of the white wall on the back that theyre dunlops.

Why torture yourself with maxxis thoughts...

Posted By: jarnold Re: Mat's 2006 Bonneville America - 08/10/2011 2:08 AM
Mat, could you comment on the little black box mounted in front of the ignition switch? What is that?
Posted By: Bell22 Re: Mat's 2006 Bonneville America - 08/10/2011 3:19 AM
Love the bike!! Both as it sat in cardinal red and as it sits now. Really well done. Kudos.

Hey Bob,
those knee pads are triumph accessories. I think you can find them at any dealer. Mine were just peel and stick.
Posted By: mgpauls Re: Mat's 2006 Bonneville America - 08/16/2011 11:22 PM
Sorry for the slow response, I just got back from a 2000 mile trip to sturgis.

To answer a few questions,

- The tires are Dunlops
- The sissy bar is homemade
- The pillion is from Warlock/Maverick Customs, but I modified it signigicantly to the shape I wanted it
- I put a small sissy bar bag in between the battery/ignition and the air filters.
- Knee pads were on the bike when I got it

Sweet!Another incarnation of the bike. They've all been good. It's a pity you couldn't do your changes to 3 separate bikes. All the versions have been great.
What hand grips are those?
Posted By: Peter_AU Re: Mat's 2006 Bonneville America - 06/10/2015 9:35 AM
nice
Posted By: Tim7575 Re: Mat's 2006 Bonneville America - 06/10/2015 1:49 PM
Do you have the leather tank bib/cover still?
Posted By: mgpauls Re: Mat's 2006 Bonneville America - 06/11/2015 4:37 AM
Grips are Lowbrow Customs Cole Foster

Tank bib went awhile ago to help fund new parts!

Definitely an inspiration.

Do you still have the mustache handlebars?
Posted By: mgpauls Re: Mat's 2006 Bonneville America - 04/11/2016 12:46 PM
I do still have the bars. They are actually these bars with 5" pullback:

I would sell them if you are interested

I like them, but Yowza, they're pretty pricey. PM me what you would let them go for.
Posted By: Ryk Re: Mat's 2006 Bonneville America - 04/12/2016 5:55 PM
They look like clubmans mounted upside down, but 5" pull back sounds very comfortable and clubmans don't accomplish that without set back risers.

A few pics of the bike from this weekend's trip to the Braun Brother's Reunion music festival in Challis, ID with my wife

Very nice, but I am too damn old to sleep in a tent like that anymore. Advil I guess would be the answer.
