Soooo ...

I managed to get a test ride today.

My opinion? What a crock!
I thought the riding position was going to be the downfall after riding cruisers but that was fine.

That thing shook more than a Harley!
While I was putting my lid on, I gave up trying to get my gloves to stay on the seat.
I took it back after about 20 miles - I thought I'd get nerve damage in my hands!
Power was rubbish too. I rode a 1200cc Norge a while ago and thought it was gutless and this was no different.
The thing vibrated really badly in all gears at all speeds.
I don't know if there was something wrong with this bike but I certainly won't be parting with £10,000 for one.

When I got back I took out a very low mile 1200cc GS BMW.
What a difference!
Much smoother and much quicker.

I actually liked the BMW but I've read horror stories about reliability over the last few years.
Also, why would a 2 year old kitted-out bike like this only have 4000 (and a bit) miles on it?
I always think really low miles suggest it's spent more time at the dealers than being ridden.

My R3 came back tonight.
I'm busy with work so I might get to ride it in a couple of days .... I plan on trying a new 1050cc Tiger.
Yeah I know, I know, I said I wouldn't buy one.
On paper it looks a good deal - there are some freebies on offer at the minute (centre stand, hand guards, 3 box panniers set and touring screen).
I love the stoopid power of the R3 but after the problems I've had with it, I have that niggling feeling in the back of my mind that it's just a matter of time before it lets me down again and now it's out of warranty, repairs will cost big bucks.
My local spit and sawdust garage isn't going to be able to work on it.
Decisions decisions

hey let me see if i can make it even harder...

as you know I own a 2002 TBA ...2007 1050 Tiger... and a 2009 rocket III tour... love them all..

I don't ride the the TBA much any more don't think I put 300 miles last years..great bike but after 2 years on the tiger and then getting the rocket..it came in last of what bike to ride ..

the Tiger 1050 man what a bike.. I would have to say that this is the most all around bike triumph makes it will do it all.. from touring to every day use just a great bike very fast nimble doest it all...as far as 2up vicki liked this bike the only thing she did not like was getting on and off the bike..the rear seat is very high she had to stand on the rear peg and use me to step & swing her self off and on to the bike... have done a 800 mile day 2up on this bike very easy was not in pain at the end of the day

rocket III tour great bike does the 2up riding the best...
"wife loves the floorboards" just as fast as the tiger "drag race" up to about 115mph then the Tiger will pull away will have to say the rocket is my favorite.. handles great a ton of power just love this bike..

now here over on this side of the pond was told that be looking for the new Trophy late this summer ??? don't know if that true.. but see what you can find out maybe trade your rocket in on that from the pic's I have seen of it... nice looking bike..or just go for a R3 tour
