So a 61YO grandfather is driving home from his first sleep test. Getting the full diagnosis and getting treatment for his newly diagnosed sleep apnea will probably take a week or so. He falls asleep at the wheel, drifts across the centerline much like Mr. Lane, and kills a woman in a head-on accident. He survives and gets TWENTY YEARS. Further, he is denied treatment for his apnea in prison so 20 years likely becomes a DEATH SENTENCE, because those with untreated apnea often die of congestive heart failure in short order.

So this alcohol addict douchebag Billy Lane MIGHT get 9 years. That's just the potential maximum. Add to this the irony of a man who at the time had a fortune made building motorcycles, killing a motorcyclist.

What's the difference? The man with apnea is a nobody, while Lane is at best a B- or C- list celebrity. Where's the justice?
