Our bikes have a 10mm thread for our risers, there are adapters available at Scoot Works to adapt the 10mm to 1/2" so you don't have to drill your top tree to use HD risers. Drilling is anoption and if you wanted to go back all you would need to do is put a bushing in the tree to bring the hole back to 10mm. I turned my own adapters out of stainless and used HD risers on both my bike and Wendy's. I didn't drill either of out top trees.
